Had read about this place and went to find it on our way to the Cimetero delle Fontanelle. We were running a bit late and the cemetery was close to closing so the owner told us to do that first and he would wait for us to come back. He has created a really interesting place and story. Gave us the whole story and background and then left us to look around for as long as we liked. Really great experience.

We found this place by chance after visiting the Cimitero Delle Fontanelle, and we were happy we did!! It was an interesting place to see (especially after doing a subterranean tour elsewhere in the morning and having a bit of insight) with ancient wells and artifacts from WW2. We didn't know at the time that it was Vincenzo who had dug the place himself until reading another review here on trip advisor. That makes the place even more fascinating.

I only wish we could speak Italian! We weren't able to communicate with each other too well, even though we exchanged a few words in a mixture of English, Spanish and Italian. I think that if we'd known the whole story if the place it would have given us a deeper understanding of the place. But either way, grazie Vincenzo!

Very interesting underground caves tucked away on a side street near La Fontelle cemetery. Friendly helpful guides and lots of local historical artefacts. Well worth a visit, no entry charge, just donations

Nice place to visit and cool down for a couple of minutes. It is a place of 5 wells and the things that have been found here.

Found this by accident. A labyrinth of underground treasures and a very helpful and informative guide in Vincenzo. I recommend anyone going to Napoli to pay it a visit.

What an amazing experience! Walking to La Fontanelle, I paused to rest on a bench. I asked the two men talking there if I were close, and one of them drove me there! He paused for a second before Acquaquiglia and suggested I stop there after my visit at La Fontanelle. Walking back from La Fontanelle, imagine my surprise when the other man on the bench was there in front. Vincenzo took me on the most amazing tour of my visit to Naples! He explained how the site had been a two room apartment where his grandmother had raised something like eight children and, in addition, a room in back where the family dried fish. One day, years later, Vincenzo leaned against a wall and, hearing that it seemed hollow, broke through the wall and discovered a network of wells, some going back to antiquity! During the tour, we went down underground corridors he had discovered and he showed me not only the wells and "stuff" (from antiquity to World War II) that had been thrown down the wells when they were no longer working, but a history of the area. WHAT AN AMAZING TOUR! WHAT AN AMAZING MAN! Truly, one of the rare "finds" that makes Naples so fascinating! A private museum! You must give Vincenzo loads of credit for what he has done. (The tour was in Italian.)

It is an amazing work what Vincenzo is doing in recovering this ancien urban tradition on his own. We visited the wells by chance and his enthusiasm captured us, as well as the incredible digs that the pozzari dud back in the past. I must say that we considered this place not only interesting, but also romantic and intimate.
Reccomended.

Fascinating piece of local history, being hand excavated by one man. It is not worth going to see on its own but visit the Fontanelle Cemetry as well which is very close makes it a very interesting trip. This is authentic Naples and is not for everyone.
