I have to start this review by saying I prefer more low key, non touristy places. If you’ve been to Capri then you’ll know this is hard to find as the island is usually packed. We chartered a private boat with 5 other couples so it dropped us at Marina Piccola as opposed to the other side of the island that the cruise ships go to. You can grab a glass of wine and relax on the beach. It has great restaurants and little booths for souvenirs. We did take a cab to the top and only lasted about an hour in the craziness and wayyyyyy overpriced food and drinks. We quickly came back to the marina and enjoyed swimming and a good meal without spending a fortune.

This small beach is located on the Southeastern part of Capri, next to and way below the Giardini di Augusto. The surrounding cliffs protect it from the wind and the view of the Faraglioni provides a spectacular surrounding. The water is warm most of the year and unless you run into a storm, quite calm. This is a great place to spend a few hours, soaking up the sun and the surrounding beauty.

We were told there were beaches so set off on foot to discover this quaint and less busy side of the island. Unfortunately, the footpath from the Gardens of Augustus was closed so we had to take the longer route with hundreds of stairs from the top end of Capri Town. There is no beach - only a couple of lidos and the whole place was shutting up shop for the season (end October) so really not worth all that effort! A great view of the Faraglioni but there are far more interesting places from which to see them!

It’s a tough but rewarding walk from the main Port, up and through Capri Centro and down to the fabulous beaches and beach bars of Marina Piccola on the far side of the island. The walk is medium to hard effort and takes about 1 hour solid walking. Most of the tourists stay near the main port or in Capri Centro and we found the route down to Marina Piccola and the beaches to be empty. On 31 October the sea was beautiful, clear and refreshingly cold but we all swam for 30 minutes. Definitely a ‘must do’ if visiting Capri! If you cannot handle the walk we think the taxi is about 25 Euro’s each way and the bus around 10 Euros each way.

We arrived after walking downhill for about an hour and it was a hidden gem. We managed to get deck chairs at €15 per person. This was for as long as you wanted. Then we went up to restaurant Gioni. Well worth it. The best caprese salad! Enjoy
