I was in Sorrento for only a few hours and had very little time to shop. My husband lived in Italy many years ago and we have traveled there several times so we know that beautiful handmade goods are expensive. I did arrive with a small group from a cruise ship and was taken to Garguilo and Jannuzzi but the... More

If you are in the Amalfi area and make it to Sorrento, you must visit this place! Whether you shop for yourself or for gifts, you will be amazed. One floor has lace of every size shape and color but the real attraction is the vast selection of handcrafted wood pieces. every size shape and color, the inlaid wood jewelry... More

In Sorrentos main square, Piazza Tasso, is this beautiful department store of locals arts of Italy. They did a demonstration of inlaid wooden products that they make into trays, pictures, boxes, and chess sets. They make Murrina glass products such as jewelry. Rooms filled of beautiful pottery and wooden furniture is a must to browse through. I highly recommend a... More

The tour guide took us to this store to listen to how inlaid are done. After 20 minute presentation, we were welcomed to browse around. While some of the comments said high pressure, I look at it as more very attentive sales people. They were not rude and frankly very helpful to make the sale. But if you don't buy... More

We were part of a tour group from a Cruise ship and I felt like cattle being herded in and out of a restaurant and then into this store. I'm sure the cruise line or someone gets a kick back from unsuspecting tourist into this establishment. The store, itself was interesting, with all sorts of items. I was particularly interested... We went to Gargiulo and Jannuzzi on a number of occasions and purchased a number of items we are sending back to Australia. (Yes we checked on taxes, shipping etc) The staff were fantastic and offered wonderful advice. Given our lack on Italian it was comforting to have at least 4 or 5 people who spoke excellent English. They have... More

I Googled "antique stores in Sorrento, Italy" & this came up. After a 4 min 17.5 euro cab ride (highway robbery, beware!) we arrived to find a large department sized store with inlaid wood & silver items in the window. I was excited, thinking it was an antique mall & i would be in heaven. After fighting our way through... More

Just received our side table along with a lazy susan top. It came very quickly. The only surprise was the $47 USD import duty I had to pay DHL. Another was and I hope won't be a problem, the VAT refund. I had a choice of missing my plane ride or getting the stamp. I was 2 hours from my... More

I collect proper music boxes (the ones with the barrels) in Sorrento wood so I thought this would be an opportunity to buy something local while here. There's lots of stuff throughout the shop. There were some things on display which we were well within my price range but there were others that were way over priced. Having seen these... More
