We walked there from Sorrento, the Sunflower guide for 'Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri' was very helpful and we also took in a walk and swim at the ruins of the Roman Villa near Punta del Capo. We took all day and walked around 10 miles with some steep climbs.
We arrived at Marina di Puolo toward mid afternoon. It has a sandy beach which is rare on that coastline, the sand is dark and sticks - so a shower is welcome afterwards. There is a well set up area between the cafes and few businesses that face the beach. Inside are toilets, changing cubicles and showers. They are coin operated and on a timer. It was 50c for the toilet and €1 for the shower. No obvious place to get change. Not great space for getting changed but adequate. We walked there, quick swim, changed and walked back out again - so didn't use any cafe's or other facilities. Nice place to visit and if you enjoy sand and sea - with refreshments close by you could enjoy a lot longer than we spent there.

If you are staying on the Sorrentine penisular just beyond Sorrento, I recommend taking a diversion to the small coastal village of Marina Di Puolo. By day, packed with locals and other Italians, it is the best beach on the coast. Stay till sunset though and the light changes as the sun sinks in a splendid mediterran sunset. Simply marvellous. No better way to watch the sunset than dine on now near empty beach with La Tavernetta, enjoy a glass (or even bottle!) or local white win and let the teenagers go paddling a few feet away from your table the waters edge. We had fun days and beautiful nights. Hardly heard an english accent at all in the village which for this part of the meditterean is very unusual.

Since my last review of this beach I’ve been back to Sorrento three times and on each occasion I’ve walked down to this beach several times as it‘s the most convenient walk direct from our hotel. Everything I said originally still stands (detritus-although it was a bit tidier this last time) but I enjoy the walk down the hill, walking past all the restaurants (i'm informed that they're good value and the food looks good as you walk past) and to swim off the rocks on the other side of the harbour wall if it‘s calm otherwise I swam in the harbour (water is clear at both spots). On my last visit during October 2015 it was the olive harvest and it was interesting to see how they harvest, collect and process the olives. I stopped to take a photo at one small farm and after shouting Buongiorno and asking if it were o.k. to take a photo the chap came over and spoke with us for a few minutes explaining how many kilo‘s of olives needed to be collected to make 1 litre of oil. You’ll find if you smile and say hello almost everyone speaks back to you. Just to go back to my previous observations about general detritus, it’s not necessarily a problem caused by the residents or restaurants based in Puolo it seems that it’s mostly washed ashore and out of season it seems to be mostly ignored whereas during peak season I imagine it’s cleaned up each morning. I’ve attached some pictures taken in October 2014 which show what washes ashore overnight. If travelling by bus from Sorrento the bus stops at the top of the hill. Lots of restaurants/café’s but no public convenience’s out of season.

This is beach is mostly for locals. We got there by taxi, cost 25 EUR from Hilton. Just for the comparison it will cost 20 EUR to get to the Marina Grande crowded beach area. The water is crystal clean, umbrella and chairs are 5 EUR each. Plenty of good restaurants with excellent choices for snack, lunch and deserts. I was surprised that the food was very cheap...This is a real hidden gem for tourists and I am glad that I was lucky to found it! It's important to have arrangements with your taxi driver to pick you up from the beach because there is no other means of transportation. Get the driver cell phone number and call him back from any bar/restaurant. By the time you will get to the parking area he will be waiting for you.

Stopped here by chance, and stayed for the whole day! A lovely beach with grey sand and only a few rocks/pebbles. 6 euros to park all day at the top of the hill. Umbrella and deck chair hire 5 euros each. Freshly caught tuna for lunch at the small restaurant at the eastern end of the beach. Lovely calm water for a proper swim. Not too crowded on a warm sunny May day, mid week.

The beach is clean, clear water but very busy (to be fair we went mid August). EUR5 per sunlounger, 5 or 6 small restaurants to get your lunch from or eat in. Located at the bottom of a steep road, this is accessible on the SIVA bus route from Sorrento train station or the EAV Route A buses, and the walk down to the beach from the bus stop is fine. However, the walk back up, especially if you intend on walking back during the afternoon, is arduous (probably 500m at around 20% incline), and the return bus stop is a further walk once you're back to the main road. Much more accessible if you're in a car. Definitely worth a visit, but take lots of water!

Ran down to this beach on a Sunday afternoon. It’s quite a steep descent from the main (Sorrento to Massa Lubrense) road and I would guess it’s about ½ a mile each way. The car park was full and so was the beach. It seems to be popular with locals. The beach area was quite full with deck chairs available to rent. There is a restaurant and bar. From afar it looks good but look a little closer and all along the beach and especially around the rocks (I took my swimming gear for a quick swim and changed and left my gear on the rocks) there is quite a lot of detritus with the usual drinks bottles, cans, cigarette ends etc. Nobody seems to care here and it just seems to be a way of life for people that live here. On a positive the views are good and it was nice to swim in the sea.

We found this beach by accident but I think it was the best in the Sorrento area, it actually has a sandy beach and yes you can go on it without having to pay for it!

We spent a lovely lazy day at the beach. Rented beach chairs and an umbrella for €15. Had panini's, drinks and cappuccino right on the beach. A lovely little spot to spend a day. There were quite a few families on the beach but it wasn't crowded at all. The beach is clean, there is a safe cove for children to swim and the water was crystal clear. There are a few restaurants for lunch and dinner, we watched fishermen repairing their nets and then rowing out to set them at sunset. It is some distance out of Sorrento and a walk of about 1km down a tiny winding road, there is a parking area partway down the road. It is directly across from the Le Solara hotel so we just walked down. Worth the visit.
