Once again on the Piazza Sant'Antonino, we decided to descend to the Porto di Sorrento. After the first curve, we found a terrace, an excellent spot for taking pictures: the view of the port form there was fantastic! The sky was blue, dotted with exciting clouds, the visibility was excellent, the sea was calm. Even the Vesuvius was beautiful: one would not think that this could ever be said for a dangerous volcano! We still enjoy those photograph every day!
We continued our walk and followed the road, saw the plaque on the former bastion, marking the burial place of Sant'Antonino. But the traffic became heavier, the road was narrow, so when we arrived at the hairpin curve below the Piazza Tasso, we took the stairs and climbed back to the square.
Unfortunately, we did know - and we did not spot them either - that there are stairs from the church of Sant'Antonino leading right to the port...

Sorrento has Marina Grande and Marina Piccola, both of which have their own listings on trip advisor, but it doesn’t have a Porto di Sorrento, so no idea what people are referring to here. I will take a guess and assume it is Marina Piccola, which is where all the ferry boats arrive and depart from and is the nearest thing to a port but I personally wouldn’t use adjectives such as beautiful to describe Marina Piccola.
We took the lift down from Villa Comunale to the beach clubs below and walked round to Marina Piccola to take a look. Frankly unless you are using one of the many ferries that leave here, or have a penchant for staring at other peoples expensive yachts, I wouldn’t bother. Yes there are some bars and restaurants, but they are nothing special and you are at the wrong end of Sorrento for the sunsets.
If you only have time to do one Marina whilst in Porto, make sure it is Marina Grande.

Went down to the port on several occasions. Was always bustling with locals and visitors catching boats to Capri , Naples and beyond. Queing was well organized and times allotted on boat tickets for departure and return so no chance if you not getting on. Good idea!! Lift down clifftop for 1 euro to the port or beach area was essential. Another good idea!! Buskers playing their instruments were all very good and no hastle for tips.

Sorrento port is disorganized and confusing. Additionally, the ticket lines are slow. Therefore, plan which ferry you want early, arrive early, and get to your ferry with time to spare. Since ferries don’t run so frequently, missing a ferry could be heartbreaking.
Bottom Line: Plan in advance

This is a busy ferry port. We walked down, but the elevator is a good choice to get back up to the village. It is faster even with a line.

We walked to the port from our hotel. We took the ferry over to Positano. It was about an hour to go. Very pleasant experience.
