Beautifully decorated, very interesting, and be sure not to miss the crypt downstairs, which is surprisingly exuberant

When we decided to take a walk into Old Town we had no idea that this church was so exquisite. Relics of the Apostle, St. Matthew are here in the crypt. But this is not the only sight to visit. The gilding, marble and overall architecture is stunning. You can't help but stay quiet and speak in whispers. It compels you to do so by its sheer majesty.

Amasing what you see; testimonies of so many various cultures over centuries assembled in one place. Wonderful.

Amazing. You cannot miss it. Medieval church. The cripta downstairs will leave you speechless for its beauty. Also the church is in the old town, which is absolutely great

A stunning church and located in the old quarter of the town. There is a very large square outside the church which is surrounded by columns outside. It is quite unusual compared to the other churches we have visited in Italy. The interior has some lovely decoration and quite breathtaking. The crypt in the basement should not be missed

a must for lovers of history and culture of a place. The cathedral of salerno is a medieval structure of elegance and character. The people of Salerno are very devoted to their patron saint and their religiousness transpires in every corner of the cathedral. The main atrium discovered is of an enchanting beauty, I suggest to go there in the late afternoon/evening.

This structure is located in the center of the old town. Outside the church, there is a large square place surrounded by columns and arcs. The church was originally built around 1200 and enlarged in the following years. Inside many monuments witnesses the local faith and history. The cripta in the church basement, with the relique of Sant Matteo, is incredibly beautiful and must be seen without any doubt.

This is the basement of a church that is beyond your comprehension. If you were brought here blindfolded, you would think you were in Rome. To describe this church is like trying to describe the Grand Canyon to someone. You have to see it to believe it.

Gorgeous interior, and the crypt below is certainly worth a visit. The detail on the walls and ceilings is amazing.
