One of the symbols of the city, beautiful antique made in 1800. The saint of the city is St. Andrew who protects the locals.

The visit to Amalfi is priceless and not to be missed. This Duomo is fun to look at, although at the top out of view from below are lots of little shops selling cheap plastic trinkets. Many great merchants all around the Piazza below, restaurants...More

The cathedral stands regally at the top of the long flight of steps in the center of Amalfi. A bit confusing at the top since you cannot go into the cathedral through the main door, but have to work your way around the side, pay...More

A very informative and interesting trip into the religious past of Amalfi. The paintings in the Duomo of Sant' Andrea exceptional! (the 4 depicting Saint Andrew were painted by D'Asti in 1705: a painter from Bagnoli Irpino (AV)).

If you do not know the history of Amalfi, it is possible to wonder how such a magnificent Cathedral was in such a small place. However, Amalfi was one of the 4 Maritime republics (incl. Genoa, Venice, Pisa) competing for control of Mediterranean trade from...More

This is a beautiful church in the heart of Amalfi. Enjoyed visiting the crypt and learning about the history of the duomo. Fascinating to me to see preserved pieces of the skull of the apostle, Andrew.

We must have taken at least 100 pictures in front of this beautiful building. It stands like the the center-gem on jewel that is Old Town Amalfi. The building looks even better up close and you get commanding views on the city below from the...More

Hi I don't believe so. It's the sort of thing we would have done had we been able to and I can't find anything looking back in the leaflets we picked up to indicate that you can. It's a shame as I'm sure the view would have... More
