We were there for eight days. The weather is perfect for that time of year. We had a all inclusive breakfast. That gave us a chance to try different restaurants. Lots of good choices depending on our appetite. The prices changed from village to village....More

We drove twice end to end this spectacular 50 km stretch of coastline in Campania region. 13 villages are spread across this beautiful, narrow and windy strip of land. But I have to admit that driving requires undivided attention and is not for faint hearted....More

Driving down the Amalfi Coast and stopping down by the water was amazing. This is one of my favorite places in Europe and I will definitely be back, I'd recommend hiring a private guide or purchasing a tour in advance.

On a recent trip to the Amalfi Coast I hired Biagio Santoro as my tour guide and it was truly a remarkable experience. Biagio is very knowledgeable and personable. He knows all the right places to go from the sites to restaurants off the beaten...More

Driving the Amalfi Coast is one of those cannot miss vacation destinations! While it is good for all travelers it is sensational for couples without kids. If you are a good driver and comfortable navigating winding mountain roads then skip the bus trip and rent...More

I highly recommend driving this coast line by car. You'll see more and experience more than just scenic views. It's not as hard or scary as the reviews make it seem. If you're a confident driver then you'll be fine. I hired a Fiat 500...More

Yes, the views along this coastline drive are spectacular. Everywhere you look is a worthy photo opportunity. Now for the other facts: If you’re driving, corners are often tight, buses are large and force you to back up, cyclists are very very rude, people honk...More

Amazing driving experience and views.... we rented a car and drove from Sorrento to Positano, to Amalfi to Ravelo .... tight winding never ending turns, motorcycles whizzing past, and on coming buses barely enough room to pass.... loved it and a bit scary too...it’s kind...More

Hi, we hired a taxi - advise you to negotiate price and stop points before departing. We paid approx EUR 200 from Naples to Amalfi Coast.

A lot of people I spoke to used the train, check out times, cost etc online. Otherwise you could book a private transfer not sure about the cost, imagine it will be expensive

My Sorrento Trip 21/8/09 - 28/08/09 - some thoughts (6 Replies)
We went for a week - which isn't long enough - but was OK for our first trip which I always use as a bit of a recce. There was a heatwave which meant daytime temps of 35 to 40 and evening temps of 29. This affected our ability to do all the sightseeing planned as the sun is incredibly hot which affected our 12 year old son. After a near collapse in Positano, we decided that Pompeii was best left for our next visit given the lack of any shade at all Sorrento is fab. Very manic &...More

Here at least it's as though they tore off the August calendar page and turned the weather dial to "Not quite so fierce" at the same time - a quite magical improvement that started yesterday and continued today. A max of only 26 is promised within the SkyItalia three day forecast! Glad you enjoyed yourselves none the less, and trust you'll come over to Ischia next time? Because so many Italians restart work on 1st September this week is often a little less expensive - and it's usually...More

Trying to visit Pompeii and the AC as a day trip from Rome is unreasonable. It means you won't have enough time in either place to enjoy them and you'll spend more time in transit than you will enjoying these locations. Pompeii is fine as a day trip but cut out the AC part of it. You can plan this on your own and save a ton of money as well as time. Venice is NOT a good day trip from Rome. It takes over 4 hours on the high speed train each way! You cannot visit the Blue Grotto as a day...More
