Amazing experience and views
Jan 2020 • Couples
We visited the monastery in January 2020 and the experience was amazing. Great views of the vikos and the surrounding mountains. The road to the monastery is with the local grey stones and it has many spots for photographs. The actual monastery is well kept and the people who live in or work there are very friendly and talented. They draw saint pictures which are great for your house or souvenir for the foreigners. A MUST visit of the area

Great walk!

The walk towards the church is great. Don’t miss it! The view is also amazing from 2-3 spots of the monastery. Stay on the religious part and...leave out the commercial ...

Great panoramic view towards Vikos' Gorge
Dec 2019
A short walk from Monodendri village will take you to the Monastery. The view is breath-taking, as the 900 mt deep gorge extends just before your eyes.

Short walk, great views and
Oct 2019 • Couples
The monastery is about 10 minutes walk from the square (each way). It is relatively small, but it gives you a good feel for “a monastery on a rock / mountain”. The views from the monastery over the Vikos Gorge are great as well.

There is a little shop and a toilet.

At the end of the day the place was abandonded but the views over the Vikos Gorge breathtaking. The building itself very charateristic with very small doors.

Easy walk from Monodendri to experience a stunning view
Apr 2019 • Couples
This monastery was a great surprise! Its location is excellent, with a small complex of buildings overlooking the gorge. A stunning view and a calming atmosphere makes this place a must see while in Monodendri. The monastery has a shop with beautiful icons for 20 EURO each.

Amazing location for a monastery
Feb 2019 • Solo
Monasteries in stone are already a cool thing to visit, this one has the particular side of being built on a steep mountain slope (watch out for falling rocks - as you will see there are constant reminders mountains aren't completely "still"). The view is worth seeing - although doesn't compare to other viewpoints of the canyon, and you can also purchase nice religious artifacts from the resident monk.
