We drove up from Monodendri to the stone forest and it was definitely worth it. The stone plates piled up one on another look really bizarre. It's definitely something interesting to see.

Not really worth a detour but if you go along this road to the incredible lookout at the end over the gorge of Vikos you will pass by these strange rock formations.

The stone forest itself looked great, it is a pity that there is no proper place to park. The edges of the road are too high so you could pull aside. We could only look and take photos from the car.

You can see this driving up from Monodendri village, the road is always empty so you can stop at any point check the rock formations and take some photos

You see these layers of flat rocks all along the roads but you can get up and personal with them here on the road from Monodendri to Oxia

You can see it along the main street; just park your car and walk between the rock formations. Take pictures but avoid moving the stones.

Visited on a snowy day, was exhilarating. A MUST if you are in the area. Yes road can be slippery during winter for non 4x4 or snow chain vehicles in certain places, mostly AFTER the Stone Forest to Oxya. Talk a walk around the formations,...More

This is a superb viewpoint, not to be missed. Be careful during winter time, as this is an easy car ride, yet it can be covered with snow.

Stone forest is located between Monodendri village and the Oxia viewpoint. As soon as we entered the "forest" we were surprised of its beauty. Stones are naturally located horizontally on top of each other and it looks like a fairy tail. If you continue a...More
