Wonderful. It was built under the Norman Emperor Frederick II of Sicily in the mid-thirteenth century. When it was consecrated, I was told, he rode his horse up the Cathedral steps. I enjoyed the great central rose window in the facade, the light-filled calm of the central nave, and an extraordinarily beautiful Byzantine icon of the Virgin and Child in one of the side chapels.

A few years ago Cosenza Cathedral became a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tucked away in the back streets of the old town the cathedral stands proud at the top of its steps. Well worth a visit

The church fits right into the unique neighborhood. Walk up to the cathedral past the river, up the cobbled streets, on the side of the hill.

This cathedral is in the oldest part of town. There is a surreal atmosphere where you can feel the past.

The Cathedral of Cosenza is the heart of the old city. Surrounded by bars and restaurants, it's surely a place to visit. The walk to get to the Cathedral, with all the little alleys of the old city, is extremely fascinating.

Very beautiful church. As i am used to very full churches with golden accessorizes, i was surprised to see such a simle church. Very beautiful and the piazza too:)

This cathedral is one of many. The inside opens to many basilicas that host a number of sacraments. The stained glass and organ are huge and beautiful. The preservation of historic and religious relics are beyond description.

Was shocked to find that the gorgeous duomo has been stripped of some of its history. New lights have been installed and who knows what else ripped out. Have seen this happening throughout southern Italy. Terrible shame! Vergogna!!!
