Reasonable museum with some reasonable work. Mostly by secondary artists but there were a few by Pretti.

Went to see the paintings by Andrea Cefaly and learned that the museum is dedicated to Calabrian artists. No English placards, but the museums permanent art collection starts in in the Middle Ages to contemporary modern day. Excellent juxtaposition of contemporary with the old. A must see!

"Lucio Parrillo, from classical art to comics, fantasy art and pop surrealism".
It is the title of the exhibition that the MARCA of Catanzaro wanted to dedicate to a young and talented cartoonist from Catanzaro, now known everywhere.
He has exhibited all over the world: New York, San Diego, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Singapore, Australia, but also in Germany, France, Malta, Italy, Spain, England...
Parrillo is famous for his illustrations and covers for the most prestigious publishing houses in the world, such as Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dynamite, Warner Bros...
His art ranges from illustration for publishing to Comics, from Pop-Surrealist painting to sacred art.
His technique is a mix between the traditional painting of the great Italian masters, such as Caravaggio, Hayez, Ciseri, Jerome and the modern painting of Frank Frazetta and Norman Rockwell.
He paints mainly in oils, but often, for reasons of time, mixed techniques are used, including inks, acrylics, markers and pastels.
Each work is painted on paper supports, canvas or masonite boards prepared by the artist himself.
The works are then scanned and processed through the use of digital tools.
There are many covers present at the exhibition, the visitor is impressed by the journey made in the company of superheroes and heroines who make adults and children dream so much.

Day 2 January 2024 at 5pm, arrived at the museum and found it closed without any warning, social media is not updated, no one has answered the phone since this morning.
We came to see the works of Lucio Parrillo but we were hugely disappointed by the poor organization.
Coming from far away we traveled in vain.
