A must visit to understand the history of Matera and its sassi. I am not usually into watching an ‘informative’ film but this was just great with profound insight into the evolution of the city and in particular the inhabitants of the sassi. Shocking to be sure but so much insight conveyed as well.

Book online at casanoha.it before you come because they are allowing in small groups due to COVID. Also, you will be required to wear a mask the whole time. This was a 30 minute experience split across three rooms and four videos. You go into one room and watch a short video and then you move into the next room. The rooms are kept at a cooler temperature than outside so it's a nice way to cool down. Each room has benches for you to sit on.
