We had am amazing week of Puglia cycling in February. Our daughter and her husband teach and their spring vacation was in February, so asked Puglia Cycle Tours (PCT) if they could organize a week long trip then. It is a bit early in the season, but we had perfect weather - clear skies and perfect cool temperatures for cycling. PCT selected wonderful hotels in fascinating and beautiful towns, with cycle trips each day that focused on quiet country roads that were spectacular with mid-day visits to towns and archaeological sites. It is hard to find words to describe how much fun it was cycling in the heart of Puglia farmland with ancient olive trees among blooming wildflowers and early crops, then to realize that we were cycling on a 2000 year old Roman road. We rented road bikes from PCT. The only problem with them was that they were so good that now we are spoiled and not so happy with the bikes we own at home! Antonio met us on the first day and gave us a great orientation, including fitting the bikes and teaching us how to use their GPS routes and cell phone. We did a self-guided tour and kept in touch with them, messaging with the cell phone for effortless communications. I had a minor adjustment problem the first day and Mimmo came at breakfast the next day to fix the only issue we encountered. All in all a perfect family cycling vacation.

We were blown away with Puglia Cycle Tours! From day one contacting them, we had great communication and they were always quick to respond and friendly.

We did the 12 days self-guided tour from Matera to Lecce, which was actually 9 days of cycling. The routes were well chosen and whenever possible, were on very quiet back roads. The bikes were all in good condition and we had no issues with them. Really good cycle computers were provided with the cycle routes and separate GPX files were useful to load onto our own devices.

The trip notes provided in advance were really informative with descriptions about each day, along with suggestions for restaurants and things to see along the way.

The hotels were outstanding with some absolute gems in the old towns. All hotels were full of character and provided a good breakfast.

The only thing to be aware of is restaurants and cafes generally seem to shut by 14:30, so don’t be too late for lunch! However we found supermarkets will make up filled rolls from the deli counter which were cheap and delicious.

Stop for a Caffé Leccese and a Pasticciotti (local, sweet filled pie) along the way if you can!

Before we went, I was worried about booking a holiday with a foreign tour operator. I can only say that our experience with PCT was exceptional and I thoroughly recommend them!

My wife and I along with a group of friends (all 60+) recently completed the Puglia Cycle Tours - 12 day Matera to Lecce tour. The plan started prior to COVID and had to be placed on hold but this year it was a go. The assistance provided by the company and especially Alessandra was amazing to say the least. It was wonderful to have a fabulous itinerary planned for us with great sights to see (castles, churches, the ocean, trulli homes and more), sounds (ocean waves, birds, the regular beeping of horns and chatter from the people in towns) and food, glorious food, wine and of course Aperol Spritz.
The route was challenging to some extent with lots of hills (what goes up always comes down), different terrain to ride on (lots of potholes to get your buttocks reacquainted with your saddle) but the bikes provided were more than adequate and with the use of the Ride with GPS directions easy to follow. If you are planning a trip to the Puglia region I would highly recommend including one of the Puglia Cycle Tour rides (definitely 5 stars with 1 extra star for the assistance given by Alessandra)

Just completed the 12 day self guided Metera to Lecce Tour! Totally loved it! Excellent correspondence with Allesandra leading up to the tour with no detail omitted! The meeting and introduction to the tour conducted by Antonio set the stage for a trip destined to be fantastic from the get go ..and it was every bit the case. The itinerary was excellent allowing many different experiences especially around the accommodation from a modern hotel Matera to a farm stay, the trulli hotel in Alberobello and the castle stay. All wonderful. The daily rides allowed us to see different landscapes through the olive groves to beside the Adriatic Sea. Very different in many ways but equally awesome. I loved the daily rides and I did not have any problem with the distances or the climbs. The cities where we stayed had lots to offer Metera, Monopoli, Alberobello, Otranto, Lecce all had great restaurants and lots of churches and other sights to see when we were off the bikes in the evening.
We were a group of 9 cyclist which was perfect, 8 from Edmonton, AB, Canada and 1 rider from Sweden. One group member led us most days and was assisted on 2 days by another friend. Kudos to both for a fabulous job. I enjoyed having the phone provided by Puglia Cycle Tours with the RWGPS routes loaded.

I would definitely recommend Puglia Cycle Tours and this trip to anyone interested in seeing a small part of Italy from your bike seat!

This was an 8 day guided tour of Salento starting September 4, 2023. We were six and we had two superb tour guides: Cristina and Bruno. They were both very knowledgeable about Italian culture: food, wine, history, architecture, etc. They also were both very well organized and pro-actively helpful. And on top of that, they were both fun to be with! You will not find two better guides.

The hotels chosen were all excellent, with one notable exception in Otranto. Aside from that, the hotels were interesting, at times quirky, fun. We got to learn about the making of olive oil and to do a tasting of it at a farm-based hotel. I loved that.

What I liked second most about this trip, after our guides, was that my road bike had a carbon fiber frame. I have rented many bikes on my bike trips in Europe, but always got aluminum frames, so this made riding a treat. The rides were reasonable in length, and a good mix of flat and hilly.

You should be aware of a trade-off on this ride. We got to bike along the sea for much of the ride and that was lovely. However, this means that at times there is a little more traffic than I would have liked. Whenever possible they put us on quiet roads, and so it was often fine. I just think that a little traffic is price that must be paid at times on this particular tour.

What a wonderful experience we had during our 12 day cycling holiday from Matera to Lecce. Fanastic landscapes, breathtaking sea views, good overnight stays, excellent bikes and well thought out routes. The timely and punctual transport of our luggage, the tips from Puglia Cycle tours and the GPS route quidance made our holiday unforgettable. Also great appreciation for the very good thinking, by Alessandra, in preparing for our holiday and processing our wishes. We highly recommend Puglia Cycle Tours, because of them we had a great holiday in Puglia. One that we will always remember.

My wife and I just completed a 4-day cycle tour with Puglia Cycle Tours. Our first trip with them and our first visit to Puglia.
We were met at the airport by Antonio and given a detailed briefing about the tour, the area and the satnav - he even gave us a rendition of “Volare” by local artist Domenico Modugno! Brilliant 😂
PCT’s service was excellent. The cycle routes chosen were breathtaking and the navigation worked like a charm. Quiet side roads took us through stunning countryside and beautiful old towns and villages.
Accommodation was great and our final hotel in Ostuni was incredible; a really wonderful room in an old vaulted building at the heart of the old town.
Booking from Scotland, we choose to support a local company and we’re so delighted that we did. Their knowledge of the area shines through and we were impressed with PCT’s attention to detail.
Thank you to everyone at Puglia Cycle Tours. Can’t wait to come back.

Terrific experience! Would definitely do again. My wife and I did a custom 3 day tour designed by Puglia Cycle Tours covering the entire Puglian coastline. The route was designed very well and really took us through breathtaking (and yet long and sometimes difficult!) parts of the coast. The team was extremely communicative in designing the routes, and the cost was very fair. Accommodations made were all great, and the very nice touch of giving us recommendations of things to see/places to eat along our route each day. Only some small feedback on both of our bikes (one didn't have a water bottle holder), and a couple other minor items. Otherwise, we really had a terrific experience and would recommend to anyone as a great and unique was to see a region!

The routes were mostly good. Once we got after telephone consultation a misinformation at a road closure, on the one hand unproblematic, on the other hand we missed therefore an obviously very beautiful section of a day tour. The one provided bike was unfortunately in poor condition. The circuit rattled incessantly. The employee who attached the brought pedals has not tightened one of them; the pedal fell off then on the second day; cause was that the thread was dented; this had to be aware when attaching; apparently one has just "accepted" this. Of course, we then got a prepared bike the day after. The hotels are highly rated, but on site it turned out that the agency apparently has partly no knowledge of the respective condition; in a high-quality hotel, the room was damp, and the sanitary facilities completely calcified. In another high-class hotel, only one wet room was set, with transparent plastic glazing to boot. Well, we were already the second time with this agency in Puglia on the road. The criticism would then be trivial if the price was still right. But unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is no longer right. In addition, the price is in blatant contradiction to the information on the homepage, even if there is of course a price with "from ...".
In this respect, the agency can be recommended to a limited extent, because at a very high price, you can expect a consistently best performance.

Good afternoon, We are sorry for the problem with the bikes, we tried to resolve it promptly as soon as we received news. The price of your tour was determined by your request to receive rooms upgrade like suites or 5 stars accommodation, all of which were suggested by you. The starting price on the website refers to standard 4* accommodations. Thank you. Puglia Cycle Tours

I wouldn't hesitate to tour the region again with the guidance and equipment provided by Puglia Cycles - it was first rate!

The booking communication was superb. Fluent in English, understanding of our preferences, patient in answering an abundance of questions, accommodating in changing small details of the itinerary to best suit our needs and affording us their wealth of experience and enthusiasm for the area.

Christina was a total gem from start to finish!

The bikes are superbly maintained and along with the GPS you are instilled with the confidence that you are in good hands.
