Santa experience ruined by 3 hour standing wait with autistic 9 year old and 86 year old
Nov 2021 • Friends
When we arrived about 11.30 was told that there was a little queue for Santa so maybe walk around the barn for a bit then come back later so we did queue didn’t look too bad boy was we wrong 3 hours we waited I have prolapsed discs my mums 86 and my 9 year old daughter has asd it was cold no entertainment while waiting poor kids I had lost the will to live myself got my mum moved after hour and half as her knee was hurting and it was freezing cold , Santa was a nice man but they really need a time slot system because we definitely won’t go again and the playbarn was better when it had ball play area instead of shredded paper and bouncy castle for under 5s which disappointed my daughter gift shops poor too but food very reasonable in cafe area friendly staff and nice to see reindeer up so close my daughter had fun just seeing the animals but we would rather pay more for a better quality day out that queuing really ruined what would have been an ok acceptable 2 hour max day

Father Christmas part very poorly managed.
Nov 2021 • Family
If you want to take kids to see Father Christmas expect a very long wait, we gave up at 1.5 hours and was not half way through the queue.
Very expensive couple if hours.

We had a lovely day
Nov 2021 • Family
We came for the first time today and we had fun, but I do feel it is expensive for adults.

We knew it was on a farm and wore wellies, which was good as the car park had lots of puddles. It was also very cold, it’s inside barns, with no heating. This wasn’t an issue, it’s just to let other people know if they’ve not been before.

You get to meet Father Christmas & you get an age appropriate present, which was of very good quality.
You then go through the different sections with different themes, which is lovely.
We had a drink & some lunch in the cafe, which was good and a good price. If you purchased a hot drink, you got to keep the mug - which is brilliant.

Every member of staff we met was very friendly and helpful - so thank you all.

There is then a big barn with different bits in, reindeer, a pony, lamas & other animals, there is also a bouncy castle, sand pit with climbing section & slide, tables for colouring & other bits.

All in all, we had a good time & we spent 2-3 hours here.

Brilliant Christmas experience.
Nov 2021
Visited for the first time today and was not disappointed. All staff very friendly and helpful. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her time with Father Christmas and received a lovely gift. Walking through the different scenes was brilliant. Enjoyed a mince pie and hot drink and was lovely being able to take the cup’s home. My daughter also enjoyed hooking a duck and being able to choose a prize and received a cookie on the way out. Have some lovely photos to remember our day and sure we will return again.

Anyone that thinks this place is amazing clearly doesn’t care for the animal’s welfare
Oct 2021 • Family
Back in 2018 this place was under the spotlight regarding animal welfare issues. From what I’d heard it had been dealt with and things had changed, so I visited yesterday with my granddaughter. I wish I hadn’t bothered, I was disgusted and I will be reporting them regarding the welfare of the animals.

Animals crammed in small tanks and enclosures. Every single animal, even tortoises, were covered in flies. The poor meerkats in an environment where there can’t even dig and do what comes naturally to them. The place was filthy and I don’t know how anyone that works there can claim to love animals.

As for the entry fee, absolute rip off. £9.50 for an adult and £7.50 for a 2 year old. It was the Halloween “spectacular”……. I’ll say no more about that! Other than despite the entry fee and dirty kids play area, they then charged again for the activities like hook a duck. It was like a scene from Peter Kay’s Phoenix nights. We left after an hour, I couldn’t bare it.

I can get over the money issue, but I can’t deal with the disgusting environment these poor animals are kept in. If you have any love or respect for animals then stay away and don’t support this run down hovel. I hope they’re closed down and the animals are re-housed somewhere safe. Spend the extra cash and visit Wingham or Howletts instead.

Poor animal welfare
Oct 2021
I haven't been back to the Reindeer Centre since 2018 when it was slated by Animal Aid for animal cruelty. When we went that time some of the reindeer looked under nourished and unhealthy and the small animals were in inadequate housing. After 3 years I assumed it would have improved so I went along to have a look. Unfortunately the small animals are still not in adequate housing. Tortoises in locked glass cages were covered in flies, stressed birds were plucking their feathers out, 3 large terrapins/turtles were crammed in a very small aquarium, peacocks were crammed in an outside cage with chickens and what looked like a capybara to name a few of the problems. Many of the enclosures are far too small in my opinion. I appreciate there are notices on the inside pens stating that they were for display purposes only but is it really necessary to cram so many reindeer in when some of them could have been left outside in a field. I felt very uncomfortable with the animal welfare and will not be going back. I appreciate there are a lot of good reviews but I believe they are based on children's enjoyment in the play areas and not on animal welfare

Where the reindeer upstage Santa
Dec 2020 • Family
What a find! Really well done and a most enjoyable visit. Excellent COVID precautions and felt totally safe throughout. Happy elves, a jolly Santa, delightful reindeer and no overt commercialism. Just good value for money. Took an 8 and a 5 year old who loved their gifts and the whole experience, but age isn't a requirement, belief is!

AMAZING!!!!
We visited The Reindeer Centre on Monday 14th December for the Christmas grotto.
We fed reindeer, had a one on one with Santa, travelled through various Christmas rooms, they had 3 Christmas selfie rooms (sleigh room, snow room etc.)
We went through a animal/reptile type maze. We saw pigs, meerkats, reindeer, snake, 3 day old baby chicks and plenty more. They had a Christmas gift shop on site. My sons gift from Santa was brilliant.
We were given Haribo whilst we queued and given ginger breadmen on the way out. Best ever grotto we have been to. We will be visiting throughout the year next year and back for Christmas. Truly amazing what they have done. This was so interactive for my children!!!! 5 stars

A wonderful experience with beautiful animals
Dec 2020
We had the most wonderful day here yesterday. It was our first time so we didnt know what to expect. Greeted and directed to parking by helpful guys and then used the toilet before we went in. Very clean and everything you needed in there.
We got our tickets and joined the queue for Father Christmas. There were 2 families in front of us but it didnt take long as the children had a chat with the elves and got given a packet of sweets then they kindly took a photo of us in a festive waiting area before we went on to see a reindeer and its handler where we could stroke and feed him and ask questions. Before we knew it we were in to see Father Christmas!
He was great. On his sleigh at a safe distance but not so obvious the kids would question it.
Spoke to both children and asked questions to include my eldest whos 12 and perhaps not 100% a believer anymore!
We got offered a picture with him then got taken to his 'living room' where there were wrapped presents everywhere! The children got offered a gift and we had a lovely chat with the elf about Christmas films. She was awesome and totally in character. After that the opened their gifts and these were both of great quality and kids were made up. We bought the photo but this was very reasonable and there was no hard sell in any way.
Visited the reptiles and fed the reindeer who were a massive hit with us and generally had the nicest time. All the staff without exception were friendly and cheerful. They all seemed to love the animals and be very knowledgeable.
We made reindeer food and got given a Christmas biscuit. Lovely little extra nice touches and they didn't try and squeeze more cash from you by doing this unlike other places which made us more inclined to spend money in the shop. Lots more photo opportunities around and we left feeling like we had had the best Christmas experience.
Thank you and we will be back. You did an amazing job in really tricky circumstances!

Father Christmas
Dec 2020 • Family
Visited today, was lovely to get out and do something without it being cancelled due to covid. We really enjoyed the few hours, Father Christmas was great. We have 17 month old who loved the grotto and the reindeer. Took lots of photos! Staff were really friendly. Well organised considering the current restrictions.
