An historic crossing, it is one of the most attractive bridges with a lengthy back-story.
Since the first wooden one was erected thought to be in the 14th century there has been somewhat of a chequered aspect to this span due to flooding in the Turia.
It is now an atmospheric traffic-free route. Surrounded by a grand water feature and palm trees.
Statues of the Virgin Mary and San Pascual Bailon adorn it.

This bridge straddles the old river bed, now gardens and walking and cycling routes. It was built in 1591 and is one of the oldest standing bridges. It is beautiful to see both from the gardens below as well as on the bridge itself. There are two sculptures at one end of the bridge - the Virgin Mary and St Paschal. A small pond lies beneath the bridge. No problems walking across it as it is totally pedestrianised. There are steps up to it at either end. Well worth going to see......a magical piece of history!

There are many bridges spanning the Turia Gardens but this is definately one of the best featuring unique sculptures at either end.

This is the most beautiful bridge we’ve seen in Valencia. The bonus is that it is a pedestrian bridge only. This is one more well preserved structure in the city of Valencia.

One of the most beautiful bridges in Valencia is Puente Del Mar ,certainly the most beautiful I viewed ,it's an ancient bridge ,rebuilt in 1591 after a wooden bridge was destroyed after flooding , hard to believe this bridge was once open to traffic ,it once crossed the mighty but no longer flowing River Turia ,diverted after the floods of 1957 .
The bridge looks amazing ,there's great views of the famous Turia Gardens and there's some fantastic statue's on the bridge such as Statue Of The Virgin Mary and Statue Of Pascual Bailon, all in all a great bridge to check out if you're planning a trip to Valencia.
