This is such a unique and interesting sight within the city of Valencia. It is one of the first things to open up in the morning so I would recommend starting your day here either before or after breakfast. The beauty of going early is it was not to crowded and we were able to experience the market and the people without the crowds. If in Valencia, it is a must see.

This is probably the best market I’ve ever experienced. We stayed in Valencia for 5 days but spent time roaming around the city 3 out of those 5 days. We went back to the market on all three of those days because we enjoyed it so much!
The market is full of vendors and happy people! It’s one of the few places I’ve been where people generally seem to be happy and aren’t overly rushed or rude at all even though it’s pretty busy.
There is everything you could possibly want in terms of food here. We spent hours walking around from stall to stall and grabbing small bits of things we thought were interesting. The food is super cheap (e.g., a cup of cheese and Serrano ham or a cup of olives for 1-3 euros). There were fresh baguettes with Serrano ham for 2 euros everywhere.
We went for paella at a great restaurant and it was quite expensive and reviewed well. But guess what? The paella at the market was even better! One of the stalls does paella in giant pans (they’re located at the end of one of the isles) and it was phenomenal! Everyday we were there they had two different paella’s available until they sold out which didn’t seem to be too long at all. The portion was massive and very affordable.
There is fresh juices and fruit stands everywhere! Also, check out the locally handmade chocolate sticks. They were very good and again, very affordable.
On the outside of the market there is a small churros stand and it was great and pretty cheap!
If you go to Valencia you must visit the market! When you’re there though, walk around before you buy. We found that the stalls in the middle of the isles were significantly cheaper than the stalls on the ends which tend to see more traffic.

Great place to visit, right in the center of the old town, surrounded by lots of bars, cafe’s, restaurants and other places worth seeing. The market is vibrant, busy and charming. Many locals are doing grocery shopping making this a real market and not a mere tourist driven attraction. If you want to buy, you will notice that prices reduce as you move away from the central isle. There are other similar markets in each of the older city areas, but not quite of this scale.

Must see place to visit in Valencia! :)
So many great things to taste & buy.
Also I recommend connecting this visit with renting bikes or e-scooters in the rental company called "Happy Tourist Center" . They are facing the main entrance of Mercado Central and their vehicles and service are brilliant! :)

A real joy, not to be missed. A foody's heaven. You can even buy fresh fish here and have it cooked in a restaurant across the road.
Also just across the street from the main entrance is a bar/restaurant El Gallo Dr Oro doing first class menu del Dia for just 10 euros. This included freak calamares.
The staff are friendly and the street entertainment at lunchtime was great fun.

Wonderful building with many superb stalls. Top quality produce with several stalls selling similar so keeping prices competitive.
This is a proper market.if your looking for restaurants and cafes try Mercado Colon. But go to both if you can

Even if only for 30 minutes, the Central Market (Mercat Central) is 'must see' place. The building itself is lovely inside and is crammed with excellent stalls, selling vegetables, fruit, fish, meat, spices, herbs, pulses and much more. It is clean and spacious and sets a good standard of hygiene. The quality and choice is amazing. It helps a lot if you have a few words of Spanish.

You could easily spend the better part of the day in this spectacular market. The building itself is beautiful, but the quality (and quantity) of the meats, seafood, produce, cheeses, and prepared foods is astounding. Plan to spend a few hours at least, and eat your way through the place. You won't regret it!

This is one of the iconic buildings in Valencia. Situated almost in the centre of the Old City, it is a hugely impressive and lovely building with its ceramics, cupolas, stained glass windows, bustling market stalls and fine produce.
Free entrance and friendly stall holders made this a a fascinating experience that we repeated several times for buying horchata, chocolate & burros, fruit, vegetables, fish, drinks and meats. Not everyone spoke English which made our shopping more interesting but the stall holders were friendly, helpful and pleasant.
Try to make time to wander all round the market and admire the stalls and the building itself. Stallholders pay reduced rents for selling only locally produced goods so freshness is almost guaranteed and produce looks and tastes great.

A must see market in Valencia. Its a 20th century metal architecture building and is full of stalls and stores of differene kind of food items. Places that sell fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood all under one roof. Knowing Spanish can be of great help to navigate around and communicate with the owners.

Hola!

Espero haber ayudado.

I am sure that I saw no dog inside; probably it is forbidden because of the butchers selling meat in the market hall.
