Plaza de la Virgen and Basilica de la Virgen de los Desamparados. Of course the Cathedral of Valencia is magnificent and Miguelete Bell Tower is superb but do not miss this Basilica. It is so richly decorated. Go in and enjoy its beauty!

Worth a look. This is the basilica where the statue of the Virgin is kept. She is central to the Fallas fiesta in March.

Particular Church, to central plant with asymmetric dome located right in the main square of Valencia. It's the usual background of all major cultural and religious events that take place in the city. Honestly I found very uninteresting when compared to other churches of Valencia. Lovely church in the traditional style. It was very moving to see people coming to sing to Mary at midday. More than just a tourist attraction.

This is a lovely church to visit it has a lot of gold ornate features and is quite different to the large flashy churches in Barcelona there is a lovely plaza next to it with a fountain

Beautiful to say the least.Although I'm not catholic to sit somewhere so awe inspiring was a privilege. The sound coming from the young choir boys was an honour.A must see.

The stunning alter is topped by an amazing ceiling painted with scenes of heaven. The chandeliers are sparkling and the whole atmosphere is serene.

The basilica is beautiful. If you are in Valencia for the Festival of Our Lady of the Desamparados (translated variously as the dispossessed, abandoned, homeless) in May you will see the beautiful image of the virgin brought out of the basilica and taken around the plaza where parents bring their children to be blessed. Known popularly as the festival of... More
