This magnificent Gothic structure was built in the 15th century to house the city's Silk Exchange, the marketplace where the famous Valencian silk was traded with merchants. The monument is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is
one of the finest examples of Gothic civil architecture in Europe. We were surprised that this attraction was for free.

What a beautiful building. Pretty much empty of furniture, the four walls and ceilings of most rooms are striking. Silk was such a valuable commodity it should be no surprise its benefactors would have built veritably a monument to their own success. Its late 15th century/early 16th century construction is truly a masterpiece of late Gothic architecture, demonstrating the wealth of the local mercantile class.

An absolute must if you ask us. The “silk trade center”. To us the outside does not do justice to the inside.

The entrance is free, but we strongly advise to get the audioguide (€4,25). This way you learn much more and you understand the meaning of each room better.

During a sunny day it feels nice to sit in the garden and to enjoy the orange trees and all the beauty around you.

An architectural gem in valencia. You can have an audio guide which I highly recommend as it takes you outside the building and continue inside.

It takes 10 minutes to visit La Lonja de Sede. It is free to get in and you can follow the arrows around the place. Very beautiful building and worth a visit if you’re passing. The information shown in the screening is all about the construction, no mention of the history regarding silk exchange. Still, a cool place to see.

Visiting the silk exchange is free of charge, but I really recommend getting the audio guide for 2,25€ (it’s available in lots of languages). We spent about an hour here and it felt like we got a lot of information for a relatively small but lovely space! The audio guide talks you through features on the outside of the building too, which you might miss if you choose to just wander around inside.

This is an extraordinary sight in Valencia. Old silk exchange, built in 1482-1533. Late gothic style. Building's spiral columns are rare and very beautiful. There are different rooms with different styles and also a orange tree garden. Unesco World Heritage sight.

A stunning piece of gothic civil architecture in the city. It used to be the trading center for silk merchant who used to visit from different parts of the world.

This is a beautiful and historic Gothic style building right in the heart of Valencia with gardens filled with the wonderful aroma of oranges. A must see.

Cannot believe how this fine building was constructed over 500 years ago. The main hall with its twisted columns looking like barley sugar canes spreading out to the vaulted ceiling. Perfection. On the day we went (Thursday) it was free entry
