Restful and powerful. All statues look amazing. The church is very spacious and airy. Full of history , the museum is also really interesting. A very good time, a must go.

Worth a look for the "Holy Grail" and general varied artistic/cultural/religious experience. Also appreciated the organ player. The audio guides are good.

Definitely has to be seen. You are given an audio guide with your ticket price and that is really good. Home of the Holy Grail. We returned at 9.30 on another day to see the Gregorian service in the chapel of the Holy Grail. Very moving . You don't have to stay for the whole service - people seemed to come and go quietly.

We only went up the tower - it was very cheap. Try and time it for when the bell is due to strike on the hour. The views from the top offer a great panoramic view. There are 207 steps to climb up. They get steeper towards the top, but we managed to get up with our 5yr old walking and with us carrying a 2yr old.

The Cathedral is built on an ancient Roman Temple that was later a Mosque. A Gothic style building but with also other elements. Lots of valuable treasures including the holy chalice. Apparently the Holy Grail of Valencia is the one used by Jesus in the last supper. It was used by Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI when celebrating mass on their visits to Valencia. One of the other treasures is the Renaissance frescos of the main alter which were rediscovered ten years ago by removing the baroque vault that covered them. We did not climb the Miguelete Tower, apparently it is worth it but after walking our feet off all day 207 steps was a bit too much. Next time though.

Great place to visit. Beautiful building you can climb up to the top of the Bell Tower for amazing views of Valencia. There are about 300 steps to climb up but if you do it slowly it’s not too bad. Worth doing for sure. Only Cost 2 euros per person to go up. Definitely recommend visiting and climbing up to the bell tower.

One to visit if staying in the beautiful city. The external architecture and internal decoration is stunning and for €8 you get a useful audio guide which guides you round each section. There is a museum included, which includes some underground excavations and we also walked up the bell tower for an additional €2. The bell tower offers great views and it was brilliant to be up there when it chimed.

The main focus for a visit to the cathedral should be the two Goyas. There’s nothing much else of great interest.

A beautiful church located in the Old Town. Not sure where it ranks among Spains churches but it is a fine effort all the same.

This time around, we skipped visiting the cathedral interior and focused on the unusual architecture.
Inside, our favorites were the Borgia Chapel: the Goya painting of the deathbed scene with the unrepentant being ministered to by the great-grandson of Rodrigo (Pope Alexander VI; note the two evil beings waiting for the last breath so as to snatch his soul.
Also inside, the chalice room is pretty special, too. It is hard to miss as there are always tons of people sitting there in quiet prayer or contemplation. We imagine the chalice is a lot like the bones of the saints: seems like there are way too many instances of these holy relics appearing and being deemed originals. But the believer will hold on to the possibilities.
Outside, it is the coliseum-like rounded attachment to the Cathedral that we found quite out of the ordinary. But it is plain to see it is firmly part of the church. This is a beauty that combines Gothic, Romanesque, and Baroque architecture and it was begun in 1238.
During the 1936-1939 Spanish Civil War, this Cathedral (like almost all churches in Spain) suffered horribly from fire damage brought by the anti-Franco element which was believed to be working with the church. Much reconstruction work eventually restored its exterior and the interior altar.

Grazie
