A beautiful building in the centre of the Old city.
Excellent value for money. For just 3 euros (2024) each, this palace, now a museum, is an excellent stop while you're in Valencia. Even if you're not interested in ceramics, the latter part of the visit takes you through some stunning rooms, superbly decorated and furnished in the original style. Tge myseum is very central in the old city, easy to access. Downstairs, in the original small courtyard there is an original sedan chair and carriage. While we were there there was,a beautiful exhibition of paintings by Massimo, which is included in the price. I expect they have an exhibition of some sort there as there were rooms seemingly dedicated to it.

Spectacular location, much better than expected descriptions and price
Very attractive and nice place to visit. High-end rooms, furnishings and artwork. In my opinion they could enhance it better by explaining that it is not only a museum of ceramics, but a place with vintage carriages, works of art, beautifully decorated and well maintained vintage rooms. They could even ask for a lot more as an entry price

    Worth it
The museum is interesting & educational, just a pity that the explanation about the ceramics is only in Spanish / Italian. About the building itself we can say that beautiful restorations have been carried out & that the explanation about the building is available in different languages. For the price it is definitely recommended, but keep in mind that the desk staff member speaks little English and that can cause difficulties. (Ours did not speak English at all)

    Exquisite!
Absolutely beautiful, underrated museum. The outside of the building is stunning, and provides a hint of what is contained within. For just 3€ visitors are treated to multiple rooms of ceramics old and new, with helpful (translated) information. At least half the rooms are an exhibit in their own right, too. Be prepared to use the lockers (1€, returnable) to store bags, even small ones. No shop, no frills - just lovely!

    Hidden gem!
This museum is well worth a visit. It showcases ceramic pieces, some of which date to the 10th Century, in a beautiful home that gives an idea of how a wealthy family lived hundreds of years ago. Admission was a bargain at only 3 euros.

Hidden gem in heart of Valencia
Breathtaking rooms and arts in a hidden gem of Valencia!! We paid 3€ per person and didn’t think much of it but it was definitely stunning. The museum has 3 floors, not especially big, but it takes a good hour to appreciate all of the art.

What a magnificent museum that was once a family home. Wealth and opulence abound. Like several museums in the city, it closes at 2.00 pm and reopens at 4.00 pm. The Spaniards love their siestas! If you are over 65 years of age it is free as long as you take your identity card or passport. About an hour at most, a truly fantastic visit.

The exhibits of the ceramics were underwhelming, but this building is out of this world. An old world palace full of the original posh furniture, like a mini Versailles in the middle of the city. And of course the exterior is one of the best places to take a photo in the city. Come for the palace and the furniture.

We stumbled upon the exquisite entrance and front of the building and decided to check it out. The entrance fee was 3euros, but as seniors we were given free admission. There was a gilded carriage and an impressive collection of porcelain.

The outside of this building is truly spectacular and not to be missed. The interior is beautiful in places especially the rooms that gives you an insight of how the rich lived the ceiling are spectacular and don’t forget to look up. I’ve given this a two star because the staff working here are so rude and don’t care attitude. Right from buying our tickets it’s €3 for adults and a discount for over 65. The man behind the counter was so rude and aggressive when I asked him for over 65 tickets. He said “carry your passport to prove” I didn’t want to cause a scene so I just paid full price. He literally threw the tickets at me and then said “what country” very rudely. I said I was from England and I have no idea why he asked because they give you zero literature. While walking around there are staff sitting on chairs in various rooms and even though people try to smile and say hello to them, they completely ignore you. I feel like you’re just wandering from room to room aimlessly with no real structure or idea of the history

I didn’t enjoy this museum, possibly because I don’t really admire ceramics. I do tend to view them as just pots, which probably isn’t particularly fair as I imagine a lot of skill is needed to make them. However, the museum didn’t manage to correct me or educate me on this point.

Although this claims to be a ceramic museum, you’re encouraged to him and haw at furniture and the building itself too. This starts with an extremely elaborate and ornate entranceway (also not to my taste) before you see a pair of carriages. This sis set around ceramics. They had something to do with Picasso. I wasn’t entirely clear if they were his work or if they were just Picasso-themed/inspired. There was also some little clay figures from South America (I think it was either Argentina or chile), and they were made by nuns. I hadn’t really heard of these before, and again, I’m not sure I came away with much detail or feeling enlightened.

Upstairs, there were a lot of pots and ceramics. I don’t really know what else to say.

This was one of those museums where you needed to leave your bag in the cloak room. This is fine, but despite the bold claim they worked without money, they didn’t. At least the woman who tried three without letting me past and then dragged her boyfriend in (he was the only one polite enough to let me out) couldn’t manage it. So take a euro (and please be polite and let people out if you’re going to take an age to get your locker to work - it doesn’t cost anything).

Also, this was another museum where the staff seemed to come alive when becoming jobsworths, continually blocking the entrances, then counting people in, then holding the queue again. It caused unnecessary chaos and

Not terribly interesting. There was an exhibition by a modern artist on the ground floor which I found repetitive and naive. Upstairs there is more pottery but nothing interesting except for a small item showing the association between minerals and colour. There are also various rooms furnished in an elaborate style. However with all the shutters permanently closed to protect the artefacts, the ambience is oppressive.

I hate to write a negative review, especially as we claw our way out of COVID times (we hope as of this writing), but this museum, as curated, is shopworn. The roccoco doors to the museum are magnificent, and so the building, a former palace, is worth visiting. But, inside, the collection is a hodge-podge with no clear narrative framing of the decorative arts. Much better curated museums on related decorative and industrial arts topics, for example, are the Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid and the Museo Nacional del Azulejo in Lisbon, Portugal. I hope the managers of this museum plan to make improvements. As the other national museums in Spain are so impressive, I hope that this museum will soon rise up to those standards.

I was looking forward to this muesum. Free entrance was good (thankfully for the time I spent there). Exhibits generally dull, limited English captions and no dates which bring context to artwork.

Even before you enter the facade of this palace is beautiful. The ground floor is the palace which we were in awe of. So much magnificence. Wonderful rooms with exquisite details. I have never seen anything like this before. The second floor has wonderful displays of the most fantastic ceramics. If, like me, you are interested in ceramics , this a must visit. What an eye opener. Thoroughly recommend.

Constant Companion had read about the National Ceramics Museum and had it on her bucket list for Valencia. Housed in a Gothic building, which has been remodeled to include Rococo, Neoclassical, and Oriental features, it was the palace of the Marques de Dos Aguas. The collection was originally donated by Manuel Gonzalez Marti and contains porcelains, decorative arts-costumes, textiles etc., ceramics, a Valencian Kitchen, carriages, and all sorts of items from Greek, Roman, and Iberian through the Modernist Picasso eras. CC loved it and I must admit I too enjoyed my visit after getting past the grouch in the ticket office!
