For anyone planning to pursue a dream to walk the Camino, look no further than Walks in Spain to help you achieve your goal. This small, family-owned business couldn't have been more accommodating or helpful. They provided us with a customized Camino itinerary and assisted us with every detail: lodging, food recommendations, coordinating our train trip, bus and taxis, providing updated Covid information and guidance, and of course, our Camino passports with detailed directions and hiking info. Paul even sent us a suggested training schedule to get us ready for the trip. We also had daily access to him via text and email during our Camino, and the one time we reached out, Paul responded quickly and immediately took care of the issue. I truly can't say enough about Walks in Spain--they are exceptional.

Paul has organised for us an independent Tailor – Made tour itinerary over 3 weeks starting from Astorga to Santiago de Compostela. Paul has also organised the transfer of bags, the accommodation (excellent), train tickets and most meals. He was very helpful, prompt, accommodating, honest, good communicator (we have had a few Zoom meetings with him) and straight forward. Thank you Paul.

If you have ever dreamed of hiking part of the Camino de Santiago, but are not sure how to do it, we highly recommend Walks in Spain to arrange your journey. Our family of four, including two teenage daughters, just completed a seven-day, self-guided “best of” the Portuguese Camino route, which started along the coast of northern Portugal and took us through Spain to Santiago de Compostela. It was truly amazing! Walks in Spain created a route which kept us on the most scenic parts of the Camino with great directions, tips and advice. Walks in Spain was very easy to work with, and Paul Francis was available along our journey had we needed the company’s assistance. Everything went extremely well, including the daily transport of our luggage from place to place. Importantly, all of the hotels arranged by Walks in Spain were very nice, comfortable and had great breakfasts. Several were truly exceptional because of their historic nature, location or overall quality. These included Hotel Monumento San Francisco (an incredibly unique converted convent) in Santiago de Compostela, Hotel Boega in Gondarem, Parador Hotel in Tui, Hotel Pousada Real in Caldas de Reis, and Hotel Melo Alvim in Viana do Costelo. Buen Camino!

This was my second trip with “Walks in Spain”. Everything about this “walk/tour” was excellent - guides are organized, knowledgeable and flexible to the needs of the group. The accommodations were superb, the walks each day were of various lengths and terrain making each day a different experience. I would highly recommend “Walks in Spain” if you want to do a one week “best of the Camino”.

Like many others, we had to reschedule our pilgrimage due to the pandemic. For a variety of reasons, our original group and size changed a few times through the re-booking process. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to go earlier this month. I traveled with my 3 sisters, adult daughter and 3 friends. Paul/Walks in Spain handled everything perfectly for our group. His communication and organization exceptional through the entire process. His recommendations were all great, from lodging, walking routes, cafe's, restaurants, local foods, places to stop and visit and shop for supplies, ATM machines etc. all along the Camino. He communicated well with us during our entire trip; when there were any changes or we had questions right up to the last morning when we flew home. He even looked out for the locals, reminding us that we were walking at the end of the season so extra patience was appreciated for those who were hosting and serving us as they are tired and ready for a break. He even managed to get us a last minute reservation at an amazing restaurant in Santiago. This trip far exceeded anything I could have expected. I highly recommend you go walk the Camino and book your trip through Paul/Walks-in- Spain.

This is my second Camino with Paul Snr and Paul Jnr....first walking the Frances Way and this time the Portuguese Way....both amazing experiences thanks to the professionalism, expertise and care from the two Pauls.
Nothing is too much trouble for them and their attention to detail goes way beyond, especially when there is a group of people to consider and care for.
Our Camino itinerary was perfect, the selected routes to walk, excellent restaurants for lunch each day, great accommodation situated in areas where we could enjoy evenings in the various towns and immerse ourselves in the culture and last but not least two support vehicles always at hand!!
Should you be wishing to walk a Camino, let your experience be with Walks in Spain.
Thank you again Paul Snr and Paul Jnr for trips of a lifetime!

Just finished a great hike from Viana do Castelo to Santiago de Compostela taking in the best bits of the Portuguese Camino.
A mix of the classic, espiritual, littoral and coastal walks. Walks in Spain looked after us for 6 days, choosing some excellent hotels (including the very beautiful Paradores in Spain). Every day we did a morning walk, followed by a lunch at a local restaurant and then an afternoon walk.
We either hiked or were driven to our hotel where we ate together with our group or searched out a restaurant where we were staying.
A really fabulous way to meet people and enjoy the local food and beautiful scenery. And keep fit too! Various walking options were available depending on your own choice and ability as the transport was there if you didn’t want to hike the whole day. This is the second trip I’ve done with Walks in Spain and already planning the next!

We have just completed our walk along the Portuguese section of the Camino as part of a group of eleven.
The organisation by the two Pauls was first class throughout, including the amazing choice of hotels, lunch stops and the walks each day, which were a great balanced selection of the various routes available.
Sheer perfection!

Although our trip to the Camino was postponed twice, I'd like to highlight the experience in working with Paul from Walks in Spain. Paul provided many ideas from planning an extended excursion, hotel recommendations, logistics, etc. Since we were unable to actually travel last September (and as it appears we will not be able to travel this September per our rebooking) the real customer experience has been Paul's communication and willingness to work with us as well as alleviating any fear that we'd lose our money. Thank you, Paul. We look forward to traveling with Walks in Spain as soon as it's safe to do so.

I did my research before making a decision to use Walks in Spain as my tour operator for my planned Camino in 2020. From the first interaction Paul made me feel important as a client and helped me put together an itinerary to suit our self guided tour regarding available time and level of fitness. He was more than willing to change anything and assisted in more than one way. Everything came together and was finalized when the pandemic hit us worldwide! Paul suggested to move our tour to 2021 not knowing at the time what the future held. I recently enquired again about the status quo regarding COVID19 and he was more than willing to make a refund as the future is unknown. We do hope to eventually be able to complete the Camino one day with his help. We will definitely make use of his professional help when the world has normalized.
