What a walk from the Benidorm old centre to the cross without a car on a rainy day. There are some steep climbs and once you go down from the cross into the National Parc, you find a road where yo can make a nice walk. I would however recommend adapted shoes before engaging in the 4-mile walk I did. There is hardly any vegetation, so you mainly walk between the rocks. Do not expect green nature or animals other than lost cats.

Great place to climbe. It's about a 30 minute walk from the beach. On top is amazing 360° view. You can see plenty from this spot. Great place to take a photo. Overall, well worth it!

It’s been an ambition to walk up to the cross at Benidorm for some years. No better time than two days before Christmas when the weather is cooler.
A quick google returned the route info and some interesting facts on why it was placed there… apparently, to make all the scantily clad on levante beach look up and repent for wearing bikinis! (It was the 60s) So the god-fearing hordes carried a wooden cross to the top, complete with bishops, smoke-on-a-rope and no doubt much rejoicing.
Anyway, setting off from the corner, the route starts steeply but soon turns into a steady gradient.
After the first few hundred yards you start to notice that dog poo litters the edges and walkways, and even sometimes the middle of the road, the higher you get the more there is, turds and splotches of all sizes, all descriptions - dried ones, wet ones, flat ones, ones that have obviously been slipped in - pretty much dog sh!t is everywhere! Cleaning up must be something that the uncaring dog owners feel is above them when walking their cute little pets in such a quiet, beautiful area!
But the views! They are fabulous!.. if you dare to lift your head for a moment and risk a sticky, stinky shoe for the rest of the journey.
The cross when you arrive is a beautifully peaceful and quite a spiritual place. And even though it is graffiti, there are a lot of messages for loved ones lost.
Once up here you can take your time, get your breath back and enjoy amazing views.
There are even further paths over the parc or to Albir. These paths would be more like a hike but with the right footwear etc…
The route from rincon to the cross should only take around an hour or so, and there is a lovely small bar that’s worth a visit near the bottom.
I only hope the local ayuntamiento can do something about the uncaring dog owners!

We decided to go to Benidorm for a day trip and we thought we would take a walk up to the cross, it’s takes about 30mins from the beach and the views are spectacular, we went mid day but it would be even better at sunset. If mobility is a issue you can drive up and there are also picnic benches at the top.

I've walked up to the cross before on a much cooler day but as it was quite hot we got a taxi up and walked back down this time. You need decent footwear as the last stretch is quite rocky and uneven but once you get to the top the view is spectacular. We took some photos and had a decent drink before we set off back down again. It takes about half an hour or so and you get to took at some pretty impressive villas on the way. If you're feeling fit then I'd say walk up but you need to take PLENTY of water with you. If you're looking for a change during the day the cross really is worth it.

The winding road climbs slowly buy steadily to the cross on one of the tops of the Sierra Helada. Your effort is rewarded by a magnificent view over Benidorm and the beaches, north of Alicante. As they say: "The view is worth the effort!"

A nice place to watch the sunset with a good vibe. However if I had to make a list of the best places in Benidorm, the balcony of Mediterranean would come first. The hike here was not that exhausting or long. However we were with the car and parked it in the closest spot possible.

The views from the summit are outstanding. The walk up is pleasant and safe, with very little traffic on the road. I would strongly recommend bringing plenty of drinks during warm weather.
