A superb exhibition has just opened and which is due to last until August 2024, so you will not be able to see the so-called permanent exhibition until it ends.
This exhibition is in line with the encyclopedists who wanted to report on the state of knowledge in their time.
Here the emphasis is placed on archaeological sites and certain cities of the Mediterranean world (and to a lesser extent Mexican sites) through engravings, starting with those of Piranesi relating to Rome and continuing with those of Laborde father (for Spain) and son (for the Middle East), of Vivant-Denon, of David Roberts, of Champollion, of Burkhart, etc. From the Sainte-Catherine monastery to Timgad, from Saint-Jean-d'Acre to Constantinople, from Jerusalem to Aswan, from Athens to Petra, from Aleppo to Cairo, you will discover all these sites in the 19th century thanks to the talent of these designers and then photographed (there are even photos of Maxime du Camp, Flaubert's great friend).
Very beautiful botanical plates especially and incidentally of birds and minerals complete this extra-European expedition.
Take advantage of your visit to have lunch in the museum's excellent restaurant (ventrèche with pepper salad, mushroom risotto, salad with anchovies and candied onions, pork fillet with port sauce, whiting with squid, cod with piperade, chocolate brownie , cheesecake are all worth the trip outside of town).
What a shame that there is no dishwasher and that we have to eat at the rate of cutlery being dried and unceremoniously thrown into the drawers, strangely also the waitresses did not respond to our farewells even though they had just done it with other customers (but they are surely regulars!!!).

Amazing museum. The building in itself is worth seeing. The permanent collection of contemporary art is very good and the temporary exhibitions varied and exhilarating. We went to the Museum's theater as well for a Dance show we loved. Highly recommended!

What a pleasant surprise to discover this museum! I only had one morning to do sight-seeing in Pamplona, and decided to head here. This was a good idea. The building itself is pleasant, with unexpected views and light from outside. There is a small collection of modern Spanish art, and attention to photography, but I enjoyed all three temporary exhibtions that were on at the moment of visiting (Ugalde, Mariné, Maselli). I wandered leisurely around for 1,5 hours.

NB the museum's website says it opens at 9.30; but this is actually 10.00 hrs.

This is a small but very interesting Museum. Not only its content -contemporary art- but also the building itself. It contains an small but important collection of Contemporary Art (Rothko, Picasso, Tapies, Palazuelo, Chillida). The best part is the collection of Photography, though the collection is not shown completely. On top of that there are always very interesting temporary exhibitions.
The architect of the building is Rafael Moneo, the only Spanish architect awarded with Pritzker award. He is originally from Navarra and for instance has built the Cathedral of Los Angeles in the USA. I very high recommendation to visit.

The Museo Universidad de Navarra opened in 2015 and is a museum of abstract art. It is located on the University of Navarra campus. Featured artists include; Rothko, Picasso, and more. There is also a vast collection of photographic prints and negatives dating back to the 19th century. It is open from 10am-8pm Tuesday-Sunday. Closed on Monday. Cost is about $5.

Museo Universidad de Navarra is an interesting museum which holds a contemporary art collection of rather beautiful works. The collection includes some well known artists, such as Pablo Picasso, Antoni Tàpies, Wassily Kandinsky, and Eduardo Chillida. There is also a good collection of photographs. Entry costs around €5, there is a reduced price for certain visitors and children go in free. There is a cafeteria too. A word of caution, the museum is closed on Mondays, as most museums are in Spain and much of Europe. Also there are reduced hours on Sundays and public holidays.

Beautiful building, easy to park the car, very enjoyable to walk through each of the rooms. There is a detailed explanation available in several languages which helps a lot. The museum is spacious and clean with a lovely feel and good facilities. The lower floor was closed when we visited but there was plenty to keep us interested for about 1.5 hours. The museum contains artwork, sculpture and creative pieces. Also includes a Picasso piece. There is an on-site restaurant/cafe and museum shop.
