Lovely park to enjoy on a sunny day, sit on a bench with a book, or walk the paths and look at the old walls.
Too bad the people who work here don't respect the posted hours - we wanted a 2 min peek at the barracks and the ovens, however no luck! We arrived at 1:22pm at the building, and while it is clearly marked they are open until 1:30pm before closing for siesta, the lady wouldn't let us in.
No thanks to the grumpy employee denying tourists a look!

Pamplona is a wonderful wall city and it is a great place to walk. Its parks are amazing, unfortunately because of the preparations for the running of the bulls, the parks were all fenced in There's a fort that shows videos of the walled city and its evolution over time, most informational

The walk through/by the park to reach the fortress is nice. Walking through the fortress is also nice, but there really isn't anything to see. I was expecting an actual fortress like you can visit in other cities, but this is just the old walls surrounded by grass. There is little explanation and nothing historically significant to see.

It is quite large and if you want to take the bus to Olite and San Sebastian you will walk by this fort .

It's huge and part of the fortress was demolished to make space for houses in the 19th century. Together wizh the city wall, it shows the importance of Pamplona in earlier times

Easy walking and lovely view over the surrounding area of Pamplona. Easy access for all ages and nice places to stop and have a drink and something to eat.

Great place to wander around and soak up the atmosphere. Great views all over the town. If you have plenty of time take a picnic.

Pamplona is an old city surrounded by walls and a fortress. We walked along the city walls with stunning views of the city and surrounding hills. There is also a pentagram shaped fortress of walls and lovely gardens near the underground bus station. What used to be moats has been turned into animal sanctuaries with lots of bird life, including peacocks, geese, ducks, swans, chickens and even a herd of deer. Great place to stroll along in the cool evenings.

The Walsh and Fort of Pamplona are well worth a visit for their beautiful views of the Navarran hills. The walls have a sheer drop of over 20 metres so take care - during San Fermines they place metal barriers up so people won't fall asleep on them in a drunken stupor and fall. There is a lovely at with shaded canopy to have a drink in the quiet and shady oasis. And the price is right - free!

would like suggestions for other towns and sights from Pamplona as we intend driving in spain and Portugal for 5 weeks in Sept
Written July 1, 2016
Hi,
I would recommend that you spend a couple of days driving around La Rioja and don't miss the many wineyards around that area, especially The Marques de Riscal in Elciego. Also, I would definitively recommend that from pamplona you drive to bilbao, go along the coast to san sebastian (you would need more than a day to do so, so I recommend you spend one day in Bilbao) and from there you drive trough the coast to all the french basque country to end in san juan de luz, one of the most beautiful places I've seen. From there you could drive to cataluna etc.
If you plan to do it to end in portugal, you should then do Cantabria, Asturias and definitively go to Portugal trought galicia. Hope this helps!

We will not be staying at Pamplona, just passing through en route from San Sebastian to Logronos. Is it worth stopping for an hour or so? Would our time be better spent seeing other sights in Pamplona?
What are the opening hours?
How much does it cost for seniors?

The medieval part of Pamplona is small and intimate. An hour’s pushing it, but it’s worth investing half a day in the town. Beautiful, and you won’t get more Spanish
