Not over easy to find, in fact no signposts (not that we could see) anywhere. But forget that and make the trip to see these magnificent guns and absorb the dramatic views as you ascend/descend from the peak. It is a long climb even by...More

We spent too long at the beach down the road and hurredly beetled up the mountainside just as the sun was setting. At that time of the day, we practically had the place to ourselves and what a find, when you've got your three teenage...More

Complete fake fort. Build as a disguise for the huge 43cm guns at the top of the mountain protecting the bay of Cartagena. Became obsolete and fallen to decay. Nice views but could be made into a great attraction.

Cycled from La Azohía as we didn’t like to take our Motorhomes up the narrow road. A challenging ride up taking about 2 hours. Lots to wander round and see once you get there. We took food with us. Stunning views across to Cartagena, only...More

It's a fair trek from towns like Cartagena or Puerto Mazarron. I would recommend hiring a car.

Bateria de Castillitos (1 Reply)
We're in port on a Sunday from noon to 7pm. Is Bateria de Castillitos close enough to see in that time frame, and if so, what's the best way to get there? Thanks!

The Bateria de Castillitos is located 31 km away from downtown Cartagena. It will take you 46 minutes by car. So it is not practical to visit it. You could take a taxi and tell the driver to wait for you while you see this site. The taxi will cost about 70 euros.
