Really interesting historical site. No entry charge although you will pay for a pre booked guided tour. Wear suitable flat footwear. Dusty and undulating. Beautiful scenery. No refreshments/cafe etc - take picnic or similar. Tricky for wheel chairs although access to scenery in parts worth...More

An abandoned military base , a cross between Disney and the guns of Navarone The base was built between WW1 & WW2 to protect the port of Cartagena . There are a number of gun emplacements along the coast , but this one houses 2...More

Take a drive out to the batteries & you wont be disappointed. Once you climb the windy road up to the site, you can take in amazing views of the battery & surrounding area. We were lucky to have a bright & sunny day during...More

Be careful by the edges if it’s windy! Loved this place, it’s like going back to childhood to clamber around & explore. It was in use until 1996, & seems to have been pretty much left since then. You can no longer get to the...More

It was a bit of a drive to get there, up and down the winding mountains, but you have a great reward at the end...the views are amazing! The castle was pretty cool- unfortunately there was a lot of graffiti. And I wish there were...More

Admittedly a long drive up on a winding road which is quite narrow in place, but the views will take your breath away. We have been twice, we love it here, our dog is not keen as the paths are mainly small stones! The guns...More

A bit of a hair raising ride up the coastal mountains however: the views make it well worth the trip. The castle doesn't look real but it definitely is. The Guns are enormous and they would have protected the bay of Cartagena from any oncoming...More

Not over easy to find, in fact no signposts (not that we could see) anywhere. But forget that and make the trip to see these magnificent guns and absorb the dramatic views as you ascend/descend from the peak. It is a long climb even by...More

It's a fair trek from towns like Cartagena or Puerto Mazarron. I would recommend hiring a car.
