This museum is interesting! They focus both on the archeological techniques used in finding and conserving stuff from the bottom of the sea, and on the history of navigation in the region and in the Mediterranean as a whole. The museum is also quite interactive. I learned a lot! Also, it's free on Saturday afternoons and Sundays.

The museum is basically one huge room with historical artefacts. Although it was rather good, I wouldn't say it was worth paying for - if you go on a Saturday afternoon it is free entry. The cafe there was awful, staff were cold and there wasn't a menu which made it difficult to order!

This is a relatively new addition to the harbour front in Cartegena and well worth a visit. The building itself is very modern and whole museum is 'open plan' . Two sloping walk ways (down then back up) take you through local maritime history from the Phoenicians to the 18thc. At the start there are touch screen videos and explanations... More

Interesting displays with information in English. Lots of interactive things with buttons to press which kids 7 plus will enjoy. Worth spending an hour here and you still have time to explore other parts of the city.

Went on Sunday so free, allow about 30-40 mins. Some nice exhibits, star of the show is the coins at the end. Quite small but looks like some interactive bits for kids to do. Signs and info in English and Spanish. It is worth seeing but I wouldn't make a special trip just to go there.

This site is very interesting and easy to visit. You can walk around the top of the site and get a good overview before descending into the heart of the area. There are labels in english and there is a lot to see including some frescoes and columns etc. The area is covered so it is good both in the... More

I have visited many museums and I reckon we have some of the best in the world right here in the UK. However I would certainly add this one to anyone's list if visiting this region of Spain. The layout is contemporary and very simple. Not the largest of museums but the content is superb and very well laid out.... More

We were keen to do something in the cool and escape lunchtime sun in Cartagena. Realised that it is only free at certain times of week. It cost €9 for 3 adults (inc teenager) while 9 yr old was free. The exhibits are well done and some of the information was very interesting. Boys got bit bored as lots to... More

We hadn't intended on visiting this museum but because we visited on a Sunday lots of places were closed. We were very pleased we did, it was very unusual but fascinating and lots of interactive displays for kids too. Only some of the displays were in English but this is well worth a visit and its free too.
