While not very big, the Roman Theatre Museum is a really a "must" when visiting Cartagena. Easily accessible at the bottom of the main thoroughfare, one goes through a well-laid out exhibition of Roman remains and artifacts, before eventually leading out to the Roman Theatre which is pretty well preserved - given the ravages of so much passing time. It's... More

Took a day trip here after hearing of the Roman theatre discovery. Pretty amazing how they kept the fascade of the surrounding buildings intact and excavated the theatre inside there's also a bit of early Christianity info and of course when the moores occupied and the invasion of the goths makes you're mind conjur up all sorts of happenings. The... More

I had wanted to visit this site for a couple of years and, at around 50 minutes from Villamartin, we went today. As has been stated, the museum is not a big, gaudy entrance. If you go to the harbour and walk up what looks like the Main Street, the museum entrance is close to the harbour in an unassuming... More

The roman theatre is a fascinating place - just unearthed in the 1980's. It's great to be able to walk around in the forum and imagine what it was like in Roman times.

Very interesting who would have thought that these places really existed? Great to bring the kids to give them an insight to history

The museum was great! We were given glimpses of the past as we walked through the museum and up to a doorway and then WOW we walk out at the top of a Roman amphitheatre! What a sight! We walked up and down the steps in the theatre many of which were original.

Great way to visit and learn about the Roman theatre. You first enter the museum, via a fairly nondescript doorway. Take a seat in the museum's auditorium for a short introductory film (alternates between Spanish and English versions), before visiting the museum and following the tunnel through to explore the theatre itself.

As the other reviews said this place is hard to find, head for the bottom of the Main Street (near the cruise boats) and the entrance is in a pink building. It cost us 22 euros for a family of 4. We had the tourist photos taken and got a great pack with it in for 10 euro included a... More

A small museum but it leads you into a near-complete Roman Amphitheater. Definitely worth including on a Roman-history-tour around Cartagena. We were pleasantly surprised by the long opening hours (10:00-20:00 daily, even during the Easter weekend).
