Our Seabourn cruise docked in the marina and a tour group of us began our walk through the promenade. Passing through the Carlos III wall and the sculptures in the grass, we made our way to the dazzlingly white City of Oz (as near a comparison as I can make). Everything here gleamed with clean, bright beauty. The path is even paved in the center with a center line of blue tiles.
Although we did not have time to tour the Town Hall itself, there was plenty to admire from the outside. It is purely Modernistic and reflects pretty much the style of the day. Built in 1907, it flouts all the curves, adornment, floral decoration, and accoutrements marking the beauty of streamlined Art Deco that Modernism became.
The plaza is wide, the stone paving looks to be a soft cream-colored "follow the yellow brick road" entry into town. How perfect. One of the nicest visages into any town we have visited yet.
Do take some time to admire the fine details on the exterior of the Town Hall. There is a beautiful female head wearing a crown of 3 towers, a clock tower built into Town Hall, and all three sides of the building are a bit different.

although the town hall plaza is very attractive, due to stone buildings, there is not actually much to do once you've taken a photograph for the scrapbook, as the tourist info centre was shut.

This is the central plaza or square of ancient Cartagena. Whether you arrive by cruise both or came by land, it s good place to start your tour. There is a tourist information office at the end of the plaza facing seawards.

Went here recently when visiting Cartegena. This is a wonderful square with beautiful old buildings. Plenty of things going on and lots of cafes and restaurants. A delightful place.

The plaza is the focal point of portside Cartagena, being about 100m away from the harbour. On one side is the huge Palacio Consistorial, looking like a wedding cake; on the other is a discreet entrance to the magnificent Teatro Romano. In front of this is the homonymous cafeteria/restaurant (the best place to sit). Other bars/cafés can be found to the north of the plaza. The southern side is open to an elaborate and beautiful walkway to the harbourside, with quirky statues and displays.

A wonderful building from the outside and the inside. Got lucky and one of the concelejas/alderman took me around on the inside and showed some great offices and meeting rooms not generally open to the public.

At the start of Calle Mayor, great photo shoot if you like buildings, quality stone work well worth a visit when in Cartagena. Not a lot more to say about this building but the location and area is very much an attractive day out with the naval museum and Roman ruins close by. Enjoy a day out in Cartagena and enjoy a very pretty City.

This Plaza is surrounded by some wonderful buildings with quite amazing architecture, there are some cafe bars and restaurants as well as monuments and statues, which are all well worth looking at.
Definitely worth coming to visit if you are in Cartagena and don't forget to book a tour around the Palacio Consistorial (Old Town Hall)

This place is the start of one of the nicest streets in Cartagena. The city hall is there, as is the museum of the roman theater. The architecture is quite nice.

Take a beer or a glass of wine on one of the terraces in front of this building and enjoy the architecture.
