A must for hikers looking for tremendous routes, scenery, and views. There are many great routes and trails and great dog walking areas around Jarosa reservoir and the valley of the fallen. Segovia is a gem.

Absolutely wonderful. Spectacular views of Madrid, with very good parking and well signposted routes. Definitely worth a visit to escape the bustle of the city and just under an hours drive from Madrid. Also worth continuing north to Segovia.

We drove through the sierra de Guadarrama national park on our way back to Madrid. Although most things are closed outside of the winter months it is still a beautiful drive.

Written December 9, 2018
Trekking boots are essential, it is very rocky in places and the weather can get very cold in the evening.
