Fernando was absolutely fantastic! First he took us on a tour of the market and explained many of the stalls/foods there. Then we got to make orange and cod salad, tortilla de patatas, and chicken and vegetable paella. In addition he made amazing real Spanish sangria and orange fried apples which we also got to enjoy. All in all it was an terrific experience. Highly recommended!

3 of us from Canada booked a private cooking class at Soy Chef. We looked forward to the class for a few weeks and the experience was FANTASTIC!! We specifically requested a seafood paella, and despite the fact that Chef Fernando has to make a paella (almost) every day of his life, he taught us with enthusiasm, and energy and humour. He shared many cooking and food tips with us, that was probably what I enjoyed the most. The school was clean, well prepared, punctual, we were well looked after. We also learned that you can request a private class to cook many many different dishes and tapas, which we plan to do on another trip. Fernando was great. He taught as though this was new and fun for him. He speaks English, spanish, French.... and other languages too!! He was very entertaining and has much to teach. I highly recommend Soy Chef and Fernando. (I have done cooking classes in a few cities worldwide. This is a good one.)

The cooking class was enjoyable, informative and well organized. With step by step explanation I was able to learn how to cook paella & Spanish potato tortilla. All participants were involved in the cooking process. The final meal was delicious, and also included a salad and a dessert. After the class we has a chance to buy some quality products at t Torrijos market. Time well spent. Recommended

WOW! We loved all we learned in this cooking class. We started by touring a Madrid market place and reviewing which products should be used when properly making the dish. The class size was less than ten and each person was able to engage in the cooking process. Unbelievable that in one class we learned how to make a Spanish omelet, a cod and orange salad, and a traditional paella. Apple dessert and amazing sangria were also included in this wonderful class. We cooked, we ate and we shared a wonderful afternoon meal with our chef instructor.

Chef Fernando was engaging and humorous. As beginners he made us feel welcome and gave us terrific information, hints and even a few secrets of cooking like a pro. The food we prepared with his guidance was delicious! We look forward to cooking paella for our family and friends. Cheers to Chef, a true professional making a new experience in Spain a wonderful memory!

The class was a full three hours including an explanation of how markets work in Madrid. I loved it. Fernando, the chef/instructor was great. Humorous and knowledgeable with many interesting cooking tips. Perfectly bi-lingual. I highly recommend the class. I’m not a cook and I left their confident I can make the dishes taught. Enjoy.

Prepared paella, tortilla, cod salad and an apple dessert. Fernando the chef was a great teacher and gave us good general cooking tips as well. Had a very informative tour around Torrijos Market before the cooking commenced. I have already received the recipes via email so friends and family are going to be bowled over with my new cooking skills.

I booked this tour on a solo visit to Madrid to get some experience of local culture and to bring home a tasty "souvenir" to my friends! The day started with a tour of the market and some history to how the markets are designed. We learned about meats and veggies and how everything is fresh in Spain. From there we went into our cooking class where Fernando showed us how to make sangria, an amazing salad, paella and flaming apples. We learned all about how original paella is made with chicken or rabbit and the right order to cook your veggies to get the best flavor and ensure they do not dry out. It was a super fun day and was completely comfortable doing it by myself in a small group that was very welcoming. To top it off this really was the BEST paella I ate in Spain or have ever eaten! I'm so excited to have the recipes and the spices to recreate this at home!! Book this tour for a break from the castles and museums but more importantly for the wonderful experience and chance to bring home a fantastic taste of Spain!
