The church is a short walk away from Puerto Del Sol. The exterior of the church was simple. The alter, decorations and the statues inside were also plain and not fancy.

It was very quiet and not crowded as there wasn’t much tourists here.

Heading to Chocolateria San Gines I passed Iglesia Parroquial De San Gines ,viewed it many times over the years and it's a church that still impresses me.
It's one of the oldest churches in Madrid constructed in the mid 1600's ,the facade has changed over the years with alterations taking place in 1870 ,originally the architectural style was Neoplateresque but after being damaged during the Spanish Civil War we were left with a less grand but still beautiful look to the church ,this church is famous for housing a huge El Greco painting titled " Purification Of The Temple " which is amazing to view, all in all it's a great church to check out if you're walking down Calle Del Arenal.

This is a lovely church, located near the central and famous Sol square.
The church's opening hours vary (especially during the holidays).

My twin brother Stephen and I were heading to the famous San Gines Chocolateria and we passed Iglesia Parroquia De San Gines which is such a beautiful looking church.
The exterior looks fantastic, beautiful brickwork, it certainly looks ancient, we never ventured into the church but we have on previous holidays to Madrid, it's a stunning looking church, beautiful features abound throughout the church, its gorgeous.
I was content to just admire the beautiful church, take a few photos before moving onto the superb San Gines Chocolateria.
Easy to locate along Calle Arenal ,most definitely well worth checking out if your in the area.

In a city teeming with beautiful churches the Iglesia Parroquial De San Gines is yet another stunning church we chanced on as we were wandering around this part of town.
The exterior is certainly impressive, in a narrow street the church certainly dominates the immediate area, the interior is beautiful, lots of frescoes, details, statues and artwork make it a great church to visit,as it's a working church it is advisable to show respect at mass time ,it's still lovely to just take in the great church.
The Church Of San Gines is easy to locate on Calle Arenal in an area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination and is most definitely well worth checking out.

What we like about this church is that all the art has been restored and is in very good condition. It is like going to a museum. We went to this church as we were walking along Calle Arenal.

When my wife and I go to the Calle Arenal in downtown Madrid we always visit the Church of San Gines because we like to look at its beautiful art. All of the paintings have been restored and one can appreciate them. However the artist of each painting has not been identified, probably so as not to make them attractive to thieves.

This church sometimes surprises me more because, apart from its impressive heritage, it begins to make certain temporary altars in the Sevillian style that makes you return to the temple to visit them. After the birth of Christmas, in the same location, an altar was erected celebrating the Virgin of Candelaria or the presentation of Jesus in the temple. The set is beautiful and original because they are images of clothing and have great embroidery and fabrics.
