We went there and we found the funky-jazz night. The show was great!! Also, they ask if someone of the audience sings or play a guitar or saxophone!! They make you feel like home. The experience was great!

This small jazz bar is one of my favorite places. If you love jazz this will be a unique experience. Very small cozy place, nothing fancy, full of magic. Artists are even part of the audience. The guy or girl next to you as an spectator can surprisingly go up to the stage and sing, or play an instrument. Just... More

We passed by randomly late on a Saturday evening and popped in (1130 pm). €9 entry and this included a free drink. The venue is small, intimate and has a low key dirty feel to it (in a good way). The band we saw were superb and the drinks seemed reasonably priced for town. If you're into jazz / love... More

My friends and I went to El Junco to listen to some love music and enjoy Madrid on a Friday. We arrived around 11:40 and the place was practically empty (silly us!). The music didn't start until after 12:00 when the band arrived. More people also arrived. It's a small venue, but it has heart!! The cocktails are pretty expensive... More

I stayed at a hostel near El Junco and went to have a drink with a colleague between 1 and 4am. We were a bit surprised with the entrance "fee" (which includes a free drink of the same price which you pay in advance: 6 euro for a beer, 9 for a mixed drink). There's a good vibe inside, staff... Good buzz. €6 to get in which gives you a free beer. I don't drink beer so had a Rioja instead. Small place and so everyone is a bit jammed in but the vibe inside was good. Went on a Thursday night. Music was pretty good although a bit distorted at times

El Junco is my favourite place to go out in Madrid. I have always preferred smaller venues with a diverse music scene, and this place ticks all the boxes! The music is soo good, it's a mix of funk, soul, jazz, and sometimes it gives me a bit of a salsa vibe. I have only made it down there on... More

So if you attend these sorts of venues frequently, thinks like extensive cocktail menu, highly priced cocktail menu, and blistering funk music should come as no surprise. If you dont attend them, then you'll find the drinks extortionate, not many varieties of beer and the music too jazzy by far. Rest assured: the music is splendid, absolutely world class. The... They charge you 10 or 12 euros ( depending of the day ) for getting in, and they promise you can get a drink with the entrance, but that's FALSE, they don't give you any drink, so you pay 10 or 12 euros for nothing!!!! you only realize once you are in, and you can`t do anything cause the doorman... Dear Lexus... I ignore where the mistake comes from. In all our admission tickets, sold at the reception of the club, one drink is included. It's never been different. We don't know if you reside in Madrid, but if you do, please let us show you that's a FACT. Our admission tickets range from 6 to 9€ on weekdays, 9€... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
