I am mighty pleased that I read about this before we travelled, as it saved us a small fortune on travel around the city, including to and from the airport. A taxi from the airport to the centre is 30 euros each way. The Madrid tourist travel pass cost us 25 euros each for 5 days, and gave us unlimited use of the metro, train and bus services in Madrid. Do yourself a big favour and buy this ticket at the nearest metro station. There is one in terminal 2 at the airport, and the metro line is right next to it.

We originally signed up for the Sandemans tour and noticed this group gathering for an 11am tour. We had a small group of 4 people on the English tour vs about 30 for the Sandemans tour. Great time with Ines, who walked us everywhere! Try this instead, you won't be disappointed.

After reading a lot of good comments, we decided to take the 'free walking tour' at 11am. We had the luck to meet up with Alba and Jorge who were the best guides one can wish for!! They also took the time to give us a sight of madrid that otherwise we would never have seen. As they studied history they explained everything, very professional! Even our 9 year old daughter had a fantastic and interesting time. Thank you for the wonderful time Alba and Jorge!!

Great walk with a lovely lady who knew what she was talking about and made it interesting for everyone in the group. Her stories are great and she is really passionate about this beautiful city.

I had previously visited Madrid, and on that occasion I bought the tourist travel pass at the airport, one of the best decisions that I made, so it was a no brainer that we would do the same this time. The travel pass offers outstanding value for money, allowing you to get the train from the airport, and full use of the buses and metro services. It is well worth the reasonably low cost. make sure that you get yours, and take the strain and pain out of Madrid travel.

Fortunately we were advised about the travel pass prior to our Madrid holiday, so we bought them at the airport because the card covers transport from and to the airport.
We bought weekly cards which covered the Metro, buses, local trains and the city light railway so we really got our money's worth.
There are concessions for the over 65's too.
The card is easy to use; you just tap it at the outset of each journey.

I was in Plaza mayor in Madrid and they bring me for free all over the city with a very good tourist guide.Probably I wanted to visit more than we saw but at least two hours and half walking for just a tip probably is enough. Thumbs up

Well worth doing for a great, quick and easy option to see most of central Madrid's top spots without over using those already tired legs! I convinced my 60yr old to give it a go...after some initial reluctance we soon flying through the streets of Madrid! Our guide Laura(who had perfect English) was great point of information both historical(about the many beautiful buildings/places etc) and also current top tips of where(which areas/barrios) were cool to hang out with, where to eat amazing, typical and not so typical Spanish food and nice bars to enjoy a cool beer or two in the hot Spanish sun. We took her advice and ate at two of the places she recommended and we were not disappointed, some of the best food we ate during our stay! I can honestly say....give it a go..you will love it!! Allan and Old Allan Gourlay! Enjoy Madrid, such an amazing city!

We didn`t know Madrid and we chose City Pass to do it. The Tapas Tour is very funny and the food... OMG! Alba, our guide, so nice.
