Plaza De Ramales is a beautiful little plaza, not as touristic as say Plaza De Oriente, Plaza De Isabel II,Plaza Mayor but it's no less beautiful.
The plaza is named after the famous Battle Of Ramales ,the 1st battle of the Carlist Wars, fought on May 12th 1839 ,the Liberals lead by Baldomero Espartero defeated the Carlists decisively, theres also a monument to celebrated artist Diego Velazquez which looks cool ,theres also some beautiful architecture not just in the plaza but leading down to the plaza ,add to this the great pubs, bars and restaurants in and around the plaza makes this a great plaza to visit, easy to locate ,its not far from Jardines Lepanto and is most definitely well worth checking out if your in the area.

Plaza de Ramales is a plaza near some other famous ones, like plaza de Oriente. Not too far is also Plaza Mayor and a few others. Plaza Ramales is an early 19th century construction, bearing a historical name, as it was named after some famous battle. There are a few nice restaurants, bars and cafes in the area surrounding the plaza. Palacio Real de madrid is also a few moments away further up across the other side of the road, Calle de Bailen.

This little bar was the find of our trip. The location was perfect, just up the road from the Royal Palace. The Pinchos were delicious and a must have if you ever decide to visit.

We were served a mixed tapas which was great, order Valencian Paella, Fanta for child and Tinto Verana.
Paella was surprisingly quick (when at other restaurants circa 50mins) this was served in 20-30mins. Presentation was great, chicken tasted ok but the paella was poor, positive a more standard rice was used and not paella rice. The rice also was quite hard and not as fluffy and flavoursome as previous.
Can’t grumble we were starving hungry and it was getting late and only cost €31.

Small square next to Plz. from the East with beautiful views of the Royal Palace. There is a monolith with the cross of Santiago, in memory of Diego Velázquez since the church of San Juan Bautista existed here, where it is believed that he was buried in one of its chapels, a few years ago they tried to find it and it was not possible, they have left The view starts from the structure of the church (they could sometimes clean the glass or whatever covers it). Pleasant terraces in the square and surrounding areas, also very close to the beautiful church of Santiago
