Amazing structure amongst modern city. In the distance a very contemporary bridge and gardens in between. Obviously the bridge is showing it’s age but it’s still magnificent to walk on and wondering who’s footsteps am I following?

Would highly reccommend a visit to Toledo. It takes less than an hour from Atocha train station and it's a smooth journey. As soon as you arrive you an see how beautiful and interesting this place is. Amazing architecture and remnents of Muslim, Jewish and Christian culture. We used the hop on & hop off bus for 9 euros. I'ts more hot & humid than Madrid so drink plenty. Also, unlike other cities I've visited they charge for entry into all churches and museums, which can be a little expensive. Considering visiting again for the weekend. It's beautiful.

The bridge of Toledo is a beautiful Baroque style bridge, almost 300 years old.
It spans over the Manzanares River linking the East side of the city to Marqués de Vadillo Square on the Western side.
Our hotel was located close by, which meant we were able to view this lovely area and especially the surrounding gardens, more than once.

This is an impressive bridge over a not very impressive river. When I was there in February there was only a trickle going down. The area around the bridge is nicely landscaped , worth a visit.

If you visit Madrid and have a day to spare, then visiting Toledo is a must. Located only about 30 min train ride from Madrid, this medieval city is a great place to see.

Fascinating view point from the barricades of the old city of Toledo, to the new quarters of the city. One of the best views to conclude the tour of the old city and to get on a tour bus outside the walls of the old city.

After five visits to Madrid, this was my first time visiting the bridge. It is nice old bridge about a quarter mile from the Puerta de Toledo. It isn't unlike many other bridges throughout Spain, but if you're on that the of the city it's worth visiting.

The old bridge, surrounded by a nicely designed park and the modern roads, park and bridges make it a great place.

Many of the people reviewing Puente de Toledo (which is in Madrid) actually seem to be reviewing Puente de San Martin in Toledo. People need to be more accurate in knowing the name of the place they have visited!

I personally reviewed the specific bridge of Madrid, called puente de Toledo , but most people get comfused and review bridges of Toledo which have specific names like San Martin bridge or Alcandara bridge....i absolutely agree that we should be more carefull when writing a review so that we don't create any confusion to other readers.....

Is there a day of the week that its best to visit?

As far as I am aware there are no special events that take place on the bridge, but its popularity and that of the neighbouring parks suggest it may be quieter during a weekday than a weekend.
