By far the best food tour I have ever experienced was my Devour Tapas tour in Madrid a few years ago. (It was so delightful, delicious and informative that I now take food tours in every new city that I visit.) On the strength of this memory I enrolled for a virtual cooking class with Devour (mine was Pollo en Pepitoria, not Paella). I decided to pre-measure all the ingredients and cook along with the instructor. This was fun, challenging, and sprinkled with little surprises (some ingredient amounts were slightly different than printed, we weren't warned in advance exactly what pots we needed, etc.) but I managed to cook the dish to my full satisfaction, enough to feed four. There was a wonderful feeling of community and inclusion with all my fellow Zoom participants and our cook was delightful and full of information on the dish, Spanish cooking in general, and Spanish history. I would gladly try another session/ recipe agin!

What a wonderful night we had with Arantxa! Some of us cooked along with her as she made her family's Paella recipe and some of us sat and watched and drank Spanish wine! Our company wanted to find something we could do that was fun with our clients and this experience was just perfect! Everyone had fun coming together and learning about cuisine, heritage, and the culture of Spain. Owen was a great host that kept the flow of the evening upbeat and moving along. And James was wonderful with all the sign up details beforehand. We got so many texts and emails the next day from our clients thanking us for putting this together!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your paella cooking class with Arantxa! That's so lovely to hear that your whole group had a great time. We want people to be able to connect with the food, culture and people of Europe, but also with each other-- it sounds like our mission was achieved :) Thank you for counting on us to host your event, I hope that we will be able to welcome you again sometime soon (maybe even in Madrid for real!).

We went on the tour with a group of friends, we all live in Madrid but have been here for different amounts of time (from one week to a couple of years). We all learned something new with Arantxa's knowledge of Madrid and insider tips. And the food was fantastic and plentiful! This was my first Devour Tour after watching many of their fantastic videos during lockdown earlier this year (worth checking out on Facebook). We'll be back!

Hi there! Thanks so much for finding time to leave a review. Arantxa is great! It is so rewarding to hear that even people who have lived in Madrid for a couple of years can take away new information and insights. Plus the food is great! We really hope to see you again either in Madrid or in any one of the other cities in which we operate.

My friend and I thought the history and food tour would be a fun way to learn about Madrid! It turns out to be exactly that. Oliver, our guide, was personal, knowledgable, and friendly. By the end of the tour, I felt Oliver and I had been friends for years. The Food: Fantastic! We were fortunate to sit outside at most restaurants and enjoyed the tapas, dishes, and beverages to accompany the meal. I am returning to a few of these restaurants with other friends because the taste was just so delicious. Restrictions: Yes, things have changed in Madrid, you have to wear a mask whenever you are outside. Even before the rules, Devour took this very serious about safety. Our guide wore his mask the entire time and provided hand sanitizer for use before and after each tasting. I couldn't be happier with the tour!
