Madrid, Spain1 contribution
This was an excellent tour through the parks and university campus of Madrid where the battle took place. It all looks very peaceful now and impossible to guess that it was a scene of so much fighting. David is a great guide who told the story in a really interesting way and answered all our questions. Very recommendable.

David is a compelling guide who brings the story of the Spanish civil war to life in the most vivid way. One of the best – possibly the best – thing we did during our trip to Madrid over Christmas and certainly a most memorable.

This was a superb walking tour. Madrid was at the very centre of the Spanish civil war and our route took us along the frontline of the battle for the city. The three hours sped past but what we learned along the way will linger in my memory for a very long time indeed. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Spain and its history.

My grandfather was a volunteer with the International Brigades and fought at the battle of Jarama so I was very much looking forward to visiting the places where the fighting took place. Little seems to have changed since the battle and many remnants of the fighting can still be seen. The small museum about the battle in the El Cid Meson is fascinating. The whole day was very well organised, David is a compelling guide and the tour more than lived up to my expectations. I am so glad have done the tour - and more proud than ever of what my grandfather did.

As a young Spaniard I knew something about the civil war in Madrid from my family and school. However there was a lot more to find out and this tour really helped me discover more about the history of the times. David is a great guide who explains everything in a fascinating way. A really great tour - thank you!
