I find the experience of getting out of the crowded city center and going on foot from Principe Pío station down to San Antonio de la Florida quite relaxing. Here you can get in contact with a middle popular neighbourhood. Try going along the Paseo or along the river. In the church you'll find beautiful frescoes of most renowned XIX... More

I got to know Francisco de Goya's work better during these holidays. He was a rather versatile painter: he did paintings on a wide range of subjects, he did drawings, engravings, he designed tapestries and... he painted churches. This very small and very plain church houses, besides the fresco's by Goya, the tomb of the painter as well.

Goya's frescoes in the interior of this small church have been beautifully restored and cleaned. They are well worth a visit for those who love Goya.

The Goya fresco is stunning and it is totally amazing to see it in situ where the artist painted it - well worth a visit - even though we walked down the wrong side of the railway tracks! After you have been here pay a wee visit to Casa Mingo across thee side street.

If you have seen the Goyas in the Prado and in the Bellas Artes museum in Madrid go to thus church in Paseo Florida and see the amazing murals. You'll be glad you did and it's off the beaten track.

Goya's reputation as one of the best painters of all times is well deserved. If you visited the Prado, you'll have a whole idea of his production along his life. However, nathing is comparable with the richness of visiting a place which has been cleaned up and is now as it was when Goya painted the interior of the chapel.... More

The chapel ceiling has outstandingly beautiful frescos painted by Goya. Goya himself has been laid to rest there. When you go there you may be confused are there are two identical buildings almost side by side. Looking at the buildings, you want the one on the right. The other one was built later as a place of worship so that... More

After visiting the Prado and seeing the paintings of Goya including the black paintings (in a separate rooms in the Prado) we went to visit the church and the fresco he made there before he died. We loved it. Fans of Goya should not miss this place. Yona S

A small church on the edge of Madrid with some amazing Goya frescos on the ceiling. Goya's tomb is here also and there is a statue of him opposite. The frescos are well worth a look if in the area, though frankly they are not among Goya's more interesting works (these are in the Prado and display a much greater... More
