About
Hammam Al Ándalus Madrid are the only Arab Baths in Madrid, located in the historic center of the city, close to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. Our Hammam is the recreation of ancient Arab baths in Al Ándalus. Its decor and ambience created a climate that takes us to a distant past, inviting us to pause in our daily life, to enjoy a moment of relaxation and tranquility. An oasis for relaxation in the heart of Madrid. The Arab Bath consists of a free 90 minutes tour across three baths with different temperatures. Thermal contrasts in water offer relaxation and promote circulation. There is also a steam room and the rest room with a source of tea and the Aromas corner to choose the scent for the relaxing massage, between rose, lavender, violet and red amber. The tour can be completed with our relaxing massages, the Zalema massage or traditional kessa service. Come to Hammam Al Ándalus and immerse yourself in History.

Very disappointing!
Scrubbing without peeling with cold water on a smelly wooden bed full of bacteria.
Unprofessional massage, even though I asked hard, the therapist continued to caress.
Not worth the considerable amount I paid.
The height of insolence was that they told me that the duration was an hour and a half and they took us out after an hour and a quarter, I didn't have time to enter the pools.
As soon as I entered the sauna the lady yelled at me to get out because the time was up.

I drew the manager's attention, she cheekily replied "excellent"
It is better to donate the money and not have such a terrible experience!

Dear Lynnshoval, We are sorry that the experience did not live up to your expectations. Our Midra service is not like the cleanings that are done in the Hammams of Turkey and Morocco, it is softer as we reported. The duration of the experience is 1h 30 minutes, as indicated, but in his case it could not be fulfilled since they entered later. Their reservation was canceled (because the payment was not made) despite this we adapted to be able to give them the service. We take note of your comments to continue improving. All the best

Having been to several other branches of this business, I had high expectations. The welcome wasn’t anything like we’d experienced before (in a bad way) but the pools were OK. Decent massage.

What really let this place down was when it came to the ‘your time’s up’ moment when you’re herded out. Maybe ten men all schlepped off to the small changing room with a measly three showers. Not enough space to sit and get changed.

I can imagine prisoners in jails have more space. The experience doesn’t match the cost.

We mentioned this on our way out only to hear “we’ll share your feedback”.

Choose somewhere else.

Hello, Thank you very much for sharing your experience, we are sorry that the experience did not live up to your expectations. We make an appointment in advance (from 30 minutes before the shift time) to stagger entry and exit and in this way, the minimum number of users in the changing rooms coincide at the same time. From what we see, we could not fulfill it in his view. I will forward your comment to our quality department to continue improving. All the best

Truly a relaxing experience. Having walked for the entire day, I literally fell asleep while in the bath. So soothing, a perfect way to wrap up your tired day in Madrid. One thing I didn’t like, however, was that the water had a smell of a swimming pool, probably from chloride. It would be much better if it was herbal instead of chloride.

Dear Daeyeon, we are glad to read you enjoyed the time with us and you got the relaxation in our Hammam. Our pools don't be treated with chloride, we use bromine, which disinfects, doesn't irritate the eyes and is odorless. We will investigate about herbal treatment you are proposing. We hope to see you again. Carlos

The medina mayrit baths is a great place to relax after touring the art galleries of madrid. The staff are friendly and speak English well (we emailed them to book a time). The bath consists of a steam room, a cold plunge bath and three larger baths (hot, warm cold). There is also a tea room with sweet green tea on tap. The lighting is perfect and the scent is lovely without being too overpowering. It is a place to lie back and do nothing but relax for an hour and a half. During our time myself and my boyfriend had a 15 minute back massage which was great.
This is a wonderful place to chill out and recharge. We went at 6pm and it was nice and quiet but the queu for the 8pm slot as we were leaving was long! I would suggest going during work hours when it's likely to be queiter.

We decided to spend a chunk of our holiday budget on the hammam after it was highly recommended by a friend and we very much needed time to relax. My sister and I were really looking forward to our visit and arrived in what we thought was plenty of time- turns out we had looked at out British mobile for the time and we had forgotten to add an hour on. So completely our fault for arriving late but we didn't find out as no one mentioned anything to us and let us go in and change. We had ten minutes in the pool before being called to our massage. We both thoroughly enjoyed the massage but the relaxing results were quickly gone when we got told that was our time up and had to leave. Once we realised what we had done we went to the reception hoping for some decent customer service and understanding- what we got was a blunt 'no' as it was our fault. We explained again why we had made this error and that we had paid a lot of money for ten minutes in the pool but to no avail- the receptionist literally could not care less and even smiled at another member of staff despite our anguish.
What should have been one of the highlights of our trip left us very annoyed and wasting a lot of money. Would not recommend purely for the sheer lack of interest in customer satisfaction and obvious disregard for the contribution tourism brings to their economy.

A co-worker told me about doing the Hammam in Malaga and I just knew we had to book this. We couldn't decide which day to schedule and by the time I went to book online they were completely booked. I called the number and was able to get two of us in for the waters only. I would have loved to have added the massage but LOVED the waters. This just means that I have to return!

We were instructed to show up 10 mins before our scheduled time with our swimsuits. We were escorted to the men's dressing room and changed. We ventured downstairs to the baths. Our host said to go back and forth between the waters. I wish they had explained where all of the baths were. That was a little confusing.

As you enter the lower area, there is a sauna to the far left. We didn't discover that until close to the end. Be sure and enter the very first pool you see on the left. That is the warmest of the waters. Then move to the next set of steps. A much cooler pool. The cold water plunge pool is to your right and looks more like a water feature than an actual pool. There is a small room with tea.

I highly recommend booking in advance. Enjoy a wonderful afternoon here in the hustle and bustle of touring.

Dear 296gregoryh, We would like to thank you for taking your time leaving us your opinion about your visit in Madrid. We are glad to hear you've enjoyed your bath experience and as you say we highly recommend to book in advance due to our limited capacity on every session. On the other hand, we keep in mind your comment about our steam room's location in order to make it more visible. We hope to see you again. Best regards.

There are lots of reviews already about how relaxing the place is so Im going to focus on what actually happens.

I booked online only two days before but I would recommend booking as our session was full. You arrive (get there 5-10mins early) and you are given a towel and some covers for your shoes before being taken to the change room. There you change into your bathers (make sure you bring bathers, you can buy some basic ones there if you forget) and put your clothes/bag into a locker (make sure you have a euro coin for the locker). You are then taken to the bath area. There are 3 baths of different temperatures, a sauna and relax room with tea and water.

I booked to have a 30min massage as well which means I only got 1 hour in the baths. While you are bathing they will come and get you when its time for your massage, no idea how they remember who is who, but they do which is great. The massage was relaxing, not the best I've ever had, but nice.

The staff are very helpful and speak Spanish first. We were the only English speakers in our group so after she had explained what was happening in Spanish, she would come over to us and explain again in English.

Would definitely recommend and would return.

This was a nice experience, but seemed a little expensive at €47 euros each for 1.5 hours and 15 min massage. Also, they were very tight with their towels! I requested a new one for when I showered after (the first was very oily from massage as they cover you with it and wipe you) and they were very put out I would ask! Seems a bit ridiculous when it's merely a towel and you are paying €47 for the privilege! Apparently you can get 20% off with various vouchers which would make more reasonable...quite small venue,!wasn't busy, but wouldn't want to go when it is busy. The mint tea extremely syrupy and sweet!!!

I wouldn't waste your time or money visiting this Hammam.

My friends and I attended the Granada site, and had a blissful and tranquil experience. We thought the Madrid location would be the same, but we were wrong.

There were numerous couples talking loudly, even though signage clearly stated for silence. These same couples were also groping one another and kissing loudly for anyone within the vicinity to see, including a child who had been brought in by her mother.

When staff were approached about the noise level, the lack of relaxation and the couples basically having sex through their bathers they informed us there was nothing they could do about it. My friends and I also spoke to the attendent in charge on the day, and we were told they could do nothing or even offer us a refund.

Seriously if you want to try Arab baths, avoid these ones in Madrid and go to the Hammam in Granada. There is utter silence everywhere and the staff are far more helpful and wish to make the experience blissful and relaxing for all guests.

I delayed posting this review, to give the management an opportunity to address my feedback... But after emailing to them on the 8th December and 20 days later... No acknowledgement... I see it fit to share publicly our experience...

On Sunday 6th December @20:00, I made a reservation for two people for Midra 60... This was an anniversary celebration gift for my husband and I...

On receipt of the reservation email, it informed us to be at reception at 19:30 for dress room formalities... AT NO POINT was it stipulated that the appointment starts at 19:30... On walking in... The lady said our treatment starts now 19:35 and showed us to the changing rooms... There were delays in the changing rooms... From access to the toilet and time to change into our bathing costumes, taking us about 10 minutes to get out... I AM NOT IN AGREEMENT WITH THE THERAPY starting the moment we walk pass the curtains but instead on arrival at the actual hammam or at 20:00 as indicated from the reservation made...

Further to that the website advises hammam bath 45 min, FOLLOWED By body scrub, foam and massage... Mint tea included... The head Therapist or host dressed in white, did not even tell us the formalities of which or what treatments would be happening and what time... She lacked in communicating clearly and showing us the facility services and how the pools work or if we were even first time visitors... She simply indicated to go downstairs, after exiting the change rooms. On arriving downstairs, we enter into the pools, barely 5 minutes in when the massage therapists come to look for us saying we are suppose to be with them... No one explained this to us... So we were under the assumption we had 45 min in the pools... From this moment on everyone was in a rush... Also it makes no sense to have a body scrub, foam wash and oil massage and then enter the hammam pools... entering into them with the body oils... Where is the hygiene in this... And the point to wash off the oil and then open up pores again... With all of this being said... We went along despite sharing our objections and confusion from what is outlined in the website with the massage therapists... And we were simply hoping that this doesn't dip into the time in the pools later... But of course it did... As we only got 20 minutes in the pools later... Before being summoned by the head lady... And after sharing with her that it can't be time up... She argued that it is what it is... from the starts at 19:35 and now it was 21:05... And we can take it up with them upstairs... She exercised NO CUSTOMER CENTRICITY...

The hammam experience can be much more enjoyable... If you take into account the pitfalls of our experience... The massage therapists were amazing... And the pools and setting look amazing too... But the head lady... Should be sent on a workshop to speak with people better and communicate clearly with everyone on what to expect... She should've also pointed out where to have the famous mint tea... As we had none... And the time of 90 minutes should kick in when we enter the hammam... Also there should be clocks around so we can see the time in and across each activity... Or wrist bands to track entry into the hammam showing time and across each treatment... I share with you my feedback in the hope that you will make changes for future clients to have a better experience...

This post was emailed directly to the complaints department and NO ONE contacted us in this regard... This shows and tells me that even the management lacks in customer centricity... Extremely disappointed in the lack of accountability by the management...
