Not much to see. A massive road junction. Some interesting buildings. A few cafes. Something you can view on the way past.

The fountain itself is beautiful and makes for a great picture. Only problem is that when I was there, they had the area closed off, so you couldn't really get close to take a nice picture.

You take your life in your hands if you want to get closer to this fountain as the roads around it are very busy, worth a look if you are in the area.

The fountain is in the street, located in front of the Cibeles palace, it was under some work back in August but I've visited Madrid before, this is an iconic monument of the city

Beautiful fountain, very close to other important places in Madrid like the Prado Museum, Puerta Alcala, Cibeles Plaza and Parque el Retiro.

It is impossible, because of its, beauty, location, and stature to miss the Fointain de Cibeles, when in Madrid, or even looking at material about the city. It features the goddess, her chariot pulled by a team of lions, flanked by two fountains of spray. It is a visual treat both day and night. It's stature as an emblem of... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
