This place is always busy but you don’t want to missed it. There are many things to visit in the area and photos you can take like for example from the Cibeles Palace (enjoy the view from the eighth floor) to the marble fountain that dominates the square.

This is one of my favourite spots especially at night all lit up and the beautiful fountain in front, yes for me this is a must.

Not sure even why this is an attraction for Madrid. It’s a fountain that you walk by. Nothing spectacular – mostly due to the fact that it was under construction while we were there.

My rating is for the up-close view I got of this stunning fountain a few years ago when the streets in the area were closed. I walked right up to the monumental work, which is usually impossible to approach because of all the traffic going around it at the Plaza de Cibeles. I never forgot that symbol of Madrid, sculpted... One of the major tourist hotspots in Madrid. Great to take pictures; however, it is very transited by cars.

Worth a visit, particularly as you are likely to pass through if visiting Retiro or Gran Via. Also the place where R.Madrid fans celebrate when they win a trophy.

An important monument for certain football fans, this is not the easiest monument to photograph as it is at the heart of a busy junction. It is not easy to get near or get a clear view, unless you are up very early but it is non the less impressive.

A must see for every Real Madrid fan - the place where all "afeccionados" gather to celebrate their favourite club's wins. The fountain itself is beautiful, as well as the surrounding buildings. It is in the middle of busy circular intersection, so unfortunately you can not actually get too close. But nevertheless going there to admire it from across the... More

Close to Gran Via, we find this famous fountain just close to the town hall. Famous because Real madrid players and supporters celebrate when their team wins a championship

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
