A must see for every Real Madrid fan - the place where all "afeccionados" gather to celebrate their favourite club's wins. The fountain itself is beautiful, as well as the surrounding buildings. It is in the middle of busy circular intersection, so unfortunately you can not actually get too close. But nevertheless going there to admire it from across the... More

Close to Gran Via, we find this famous fountain just close to the town hall. Famous because Real madrid players and supporters celebrate when their team wins a championship

On the map a large portion of the corner closest to Retiro park, the Alcadia's [Mayor's] of Madrid is there, pass security and go inside, they were working inside, but there are things inside to see, little history [look it up] and cultural events, we went to two not at this building but other parts of town.

The only problem, you can't get to close to it. In the middle of a mayor rotonda (roundabout). You still see people taking the risk to have their picture taken next to it!

At the north end of Paseo Del Prado in Madrid is the Fuente de Cibeles (Cybele Fountain) situated in the middle of Plaza De Cibeles, in front of Palacio de Comunicaciones and Banco de Espana. This fountain monument was designed in the late 18th century by Jose Mermosilla and Ventura Rodriquez and features the Greek Goddess Cybele, seated in a... More

The fountain is in the center of a traffic circle with the Palacio de Cybeles behind it. It is one of Madrid's iconic sites.

There are so many lovely statues and beautiful fountains in Madrid, would be difficult to pick the best one, but this is one of the better ones.

This area of Madrid is lovely and open with wide roads ( and traffic!) and stunning architecture. The fountain along with Neptune's fountain are significant to both Madrid football teams

Very beautiful fountain, and the plaza is one of the most famous and well designed. The buildings which are surrounding it are very impressive . Must see.

Is is a nice small fountain in the heart of Madrid but just to see it as it is surrounded by heavy traffic. Famous for the Real Madrid celebrations, which hopefully will remain very frequently.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
