Nestled in the leafy Juan Carlos I Park in Madrid, stands a sculpture that captures the soul: "Walk Between Two Trees" by Jorge Castillo. A monumental work of 30 meters that invites an intense exploration of nature and its fragility.

A weave of metal branches, similar to fallen trees, extends creating an image of chaos and disorder. Among the intricate ramifications, you can see over a hundred silhouettes of birds, some in flight and others motionless. At the end, two large birds take on a central role: one observes the other, caught in a net.

Powerful symbols that question the human impact on the environment, on the beauty and strength of nature, even in its fragility. Life is a continuous cycle, in which death and rebirth follow one another inexorably.

Walking between two trees is not just a sculpture, it is a sensory experience. Its location on Pond Island gives it an aura of mystery and solitude. The staircase in front invites you to contemplate it from different angles, always discovering new details.

A work that excites and makes us reflect, an invitation to consider our role as guardians of the planet.

Large green area with an auditorium and a medium size pond with ducks.
Possible to hire a boat.
Parking place rather difficult during on Sunday peak hours (10:00 am to 17:00 pm). Recommend to park in "auditorium parking area"
Bus and metro reachable as well.
Kites are flying on windy days.
Avoid warm days. Shadow are rare.
Early spring days, late autumn days and not very cold winter days are optimum for a walk.
I saw only one small kiosk for drinks and crisps.

This park is something out of a magical wonderland. First off, it's HUGE, so a visit here will take hours, added to the fact that it's about one hour by Metro + walking from the city centre.

It's mainly open green space, but it's filled with natural elements such as hills, trees and water. Plus many various random works of modern art, some functional, like the metal bridge with the perfect rectangular pier in the middle. In terms of amenities, there are info stands at each entrance, occasional snack stands, and from afar, maybe a concert space.

My friend who lives here and I came here to visit the rope jungle gym shaped like the roof of a huge circus tent. We climbed around it for a bit, and rested on the mats suspended in the gym. It was a great way to feel like a kid again.

We came around 4 pm on a weekday and it wasn't that busy, but in the evening there were many more people enjoying the park, so the atmosphere was really nice. I imagine that this park would be much busier on a weekend or in the summer.

It's not great to visit as a tourist attraction, especially if you have a short amount of time in Madrid, then there are definitely better parks to visit, such as Retiro. But if you have time here like I do, or you are a local, you should definitely drop by for a leisurely stroll or a rest!

ADDED RECOMMENDATION: If you come, also visit nearby Parque El Caprichio, which is only open to the public on weekends.

The park is ok, for people who live nearby it is probably a very great choice because it is very big and I think there are plenty of activities to do for example for kids. As a tourist in Madrid, it might not be the best choice as it is far out from the city center and it is not photogenic, at least I did not find anything worth photographing there. Advantage: the entrance is free.

We had something to do at the IFEMA Madrid expo center and decided to visit here with our two kids afterwards since we're always on the lookout for good playgrounds. The park is HUGE, with several playground areas. We only visited two of the play areas, since it was cold & windy, but they were pretty fun for the kids.

There *are* free bikes available to rent, which would have been great, but they will only rent to you if you have your actual passport (or DNI[?] card) available for identification (No exceptions! Not your driver's license, not a copy of your passport, not your kid's passport card!).

Madrid parks are fantastic .... this one equally so. Worth the metro journey to get there. Enormous with very interesting sculptures to look at and lot so of activity areas. Mistake we made was not arriving early enough to avail of the one hour of free bikes. Fantastic place to cycle around. Did catch the free train around the park but you cannot get on and off. Travelled with three boys 10-12 years old and total of two adults. A very pleasant few hours.

If you are in a hotel in the area of the airport it would be your best spot for training. The park is obviously new as the trees are not grown yet but it takes time.

The first time I set eyes on this park three years ago, I could scarce believe the hideousness of the concrete water features and steelwork, the frequent signs of poor construction work, and haphazard surfacing that abounds everywhere. And yet, and yet...
Over time it has grown on me. In a city with few other green spaces - albeit they can be very good - this is a huge park that enables running, cycling, picnicking, kite flying and even walking if you're prepared to cover a good distance. The trees are growing well and the amount of shade and visual contrast is increasing. Facilities are few, simple and far between; a cold drink, crisps and ice cream is as much as you'll find in summer and only drinks machines in winter.
If you're visiting Madrid then the Retiro or the new Madrid Rio park are easier to get to and both very well worth a visit in their own right. But if you have more time or live here, then this is worth exploring.

We have actually visited this park several times with our family, it is our favorite in Madrid. Parking is easy to do as there is a huge lot when coming in the entrance. Note there is a secondary lot in the back that you get to through the first lot and then over a bridge that gets you across the train tracks.

The park has several areas, a play area for smaller children, an enclosed dog park, and then many intersecting bike and walking paths that wind for kilometers inside the park. There is a large lake/canal that has boats on it with many bridges crossing. In this park, it is easy to find a quiet shady corner with a bench to sit on.

There are drinks, ice cream and other treats available from little huts and vending machines. Washrooms are found in several places in the park.

The best thing is that you can rent bicycles in the park, you just first need to get them to create a park card that gives you picture ID for this. You then get the bike (single or a double rider) for an hour.

You will also not find many tourists here given it is in the North part of Madrid near the airport but then, that makes it more interesting.

This park is epic. The only park I have visited that beats it is in NYC

This park is huge and full of fantastic stop off points, Greta pieces of art, Exotic gardens.

You can rent a bike and ride around it enjoying all the fountains, lake and flowers

The lakes are full of turtles and HUGE fish so take some bread
