We had no idea what to expect, well worth a visit, great works of art, if you like religious paintings plenty to choose from, if you like classic art this is not to be missed.

The Museum of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts is just up the street from Plaza del Sol and includes some great works by such as Tintoretto, Bassano, Velasquez's contemporary Zurbaran, Rubens, Goya and many modern masters. Closed on Mondays but free on Wednesdays.
