The entire process from booking to enjoying the tour was great. Everything was smooth and we had no problems. Excellent instructions to join the tour - left on time and went to a large variety of places. Lucia kept the group together well and provided a huge amount of very interesting facts. Would recommend to anyone!

I Had Silvia as my tour guide and she was so energetic with a great amount of knowledge about Madrid. The tour took us around some of the best attractions in Madrid and after the tour you felt like you knew your way around and could do your own tour with friends. Thanks Silvia:/

We read about this tour before we got to Madrid and it certainly lived up to expectations. We met at The Statue of the Bear in Puerta del Sol which was very easy to find and were split into an English speaking group. Our guide Lucia was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The tour gave us a very good... More

Sanja was an awesome tour guide! She explained some key features of Madrid that I would never have found on my own. I loved the historical context she added along the way and her enthusiasm for her work. We covered really different neighborhoods in only two hours and I felt really comfortable getting around on my own after the tour.... More

Our guide, Sanja, gave us a great tour. She was friendly, informative and spoke very clearly so that everyone could understand her even if English was not their mother tongue. The pace was good and everyone in my group enjoyed the visit. If you would like to do the tour in English Sanja is a safe bet!

I joined the free Madrid tour with Sanja as a tourist guide two days ago. I was not used to go with these kind of tours before when I was visiting other cities. However, in Madrid I was convinced to join this tour and I was very positively surprised about it. Sanja is great tourist guide and she made this... More

We joined Madride tours for both the free walking tour and the tapas and mysteries tour and had Sanja as our guide both times. The free walking tour was a nice introduction to the main sights of central Madrid with a good amount of information at the cathedral, palacio, etc. We appreciated Sanja's recommendations for places to eat and visit... We met in the main square where there were several different guides doing tours in different languages. Joined a group of about 15 and went on a very informative 3 hour tour. Was a great way of seeing Madrid and gave us plenty of ideas for the rest of our trip. It was totally free and no money was asked... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
