Still a Local
Dec 2019 • Couples
Devoid of tourist traps, this is still a local market. Some great stalls. The olive guy is a stand out. But some really good quality food here. We at a quick bit at the Mexican place down stairs and the nachos and guacamole were exceptional.

Great way to try a variety of Spanish food in a real market
Mar 2019
This is not a tourist market, rather a true market for folks living in the area. There is an amazing selection of olives, meats, fruit, vegetables, fish, olive oil and even offal like pig ears and snouts. It's a wonderful experience if you're vising Madrid and want to shop like a local, or just want to go pick out some foods you wouldn't think to get unless you stumbled upon them.

Nice market
Sep 2019 • Solo
This market is off the tourist trail and caters more for locals seeking to do their shopping from a variety of independent stalls. However, there's enough for tourists here to make a journey worthwhile. As a few stalls have now been converted to casual dining.

There's various options from crepes, Japanese and Italian food along with Spanish food. I visited a bar called Lataza which served delicacies such as mojama, cured sardines or Jamon on toasted sourdough. It made an ideal light lunch with a glass of chilled Aperol spritz.

Great Market
Sep 2019 • Couples
Loved everything about it. Watched youtube videos prior to visiting. Very local feel unlike San Miguel. Just be aware when shopping. A very nice gentleman at one of the stalls let us taste all the wonderful jamons, sausages and cheeses as we were shopping for our little picnic. I wasnt sure of quantity to buy for the two of us. He told me he would take care of me and he did. The bill was not atrocious at 30 euros. But when we opened everything up we had enough for lunch for 8 people. Could not finish it in 3 seperate sittings. It was all wonderful but we would have had plenty at half the price. We laughed about it and kept saying , yep he sure took care of us.

Wonderful selection of tapas and food items for sale. Good place for lunch or snacks
It is usually crowded and often frequented by pickpockets so mind your backpack and wallet

Amazing new food market
Jul 2019 • Couples
Just when you think you discovered the entire neighborhood around metro station Chueca, with his nice and cosy small streets, you bump into the Mercado de Anton Martin. This brand new food market is amazing.

You can visit this easily I’ve you want to buy some local specialties or I’ve you want to have lunch or dinner. The food market has a bar/restaurant on top, but this is not accessible by the stairs that access you into the food market, you need to take the elevator from the ground floor.

The food market has a great choice of food that you can eat at the market, bus has also a diversity on shops were you can buy food and drinks.

You need to visit this market when you visit Madrid. And try the roof top terrace on a sunny afternoon for a great cocktail in an easy going atmosphere.

Good Market
Oct 2018 • Couples
Mercado de Anton Martin is a really good Market and quite handy too. Madrid has several of these, but this one is not as expensive as some others and the goodies on offer are also very fresh and reasonably priced. You can eat in or take away to enjoy elsewhere. The Market is about 15 minutes from Atocha station and about 10 minutes from the Prado and the Thyssen Museums and only half that time from the Reina-Sofia museum. It's also close to other sights. The Anton Martin Metro station is only a few steps away. But you need to be careful with your timing as many stalls close early, so it is best to visit very early in the day. Worth a visit!

Mor For Locals
May 2019 • Couples
It isn't fair to compare this market to Mercado de San Miguel as this one is aimed more for locals. Lots of vendors to supply your kitchen but not enough food stands to make this a destination in my opinion. I didn't expect that some would be closed at dinner time. I wound up eating at another location.

Babysitting the twins

There is a supermarket on the lowest floor, an outside bar on the roof, and two floors of market with multiple stalls / vendors showing the food products.
You have to go to believe, and enjoy the expansive variety of foods being offerred.

Traditional market
May 2019 • Couples
It is a market I specifically sought out. We arrived around 3pm on Sunday and I think this was a major error as a lot of meat and produce shops had already closed. I'm still not used to Spain schedule!

We had some drinks as a lot of food stalls were still open. One Ramen place even had vegan options. Overall, I missed out because a lot of shops had already closed. I wish there was a way to include opening times for the vast majority of shops.
