This is an impressive church close to El Retiro Park. It is a Neo-Byzentine temple. The church was inaugurated in 1911 thanks to the generous donation of a Catalan family
The most beautiful thing is the dome and the marble altar.
Mass is celebrated at 8.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. during the weekdays.

This is a fantastic and beautiful church, located just next to Retiro park.
We were fortunate enough to visit the church during a service and the acoustics was just amazing.

I always stay at the Barrio Salamanca when I visit Madrid with my wife. The Church of San Manuel and San Benito is a must see for us because we find it very beautiful and it is very walkable from our hotel. We like to say a little prayer in this church.

Found this place by accident, since it was not in my trip plans and it turned out to be an excellent surprise. One of the most beaufitul churches I've seen in my life, mainly because almost all of the wall art was made with little mosaics, includind the big dome. Photos can't hardly show how awesome it looks like. A must-visit in Madrid.

Iglesia De San Manuel Y Sa Benito is in my humble opinion one of the most stunning looking churches in Madrid.
Compared to some of the many churches to be found in Madrid it's a relative baby ,constructed between 1902 - 1910 from designs by architect Fernando Arbos Y Tremanti .
It's such a stunning piece of architecture, the finest example of Neo Byzantine style of architecture that looks stunning, the church was designated a World Heritage Site in 1982 .
My twin brother Stephen and I had just had a great afternoon out in Parque De Retiro were we enjoyed a meal, some beers, spent an hour rowing around the artificial lake and took in the stunning statues and fountains and well kept park grounds in this magnificent park and on exiting the park the church was across the road, a beautiful bell tower,a stunning domed roof, fabulous white washed walls ,its simply a fantastic building, makes for some great photographic opportunities.
We never ventured into the church but I was content to just admire the church ,take some photos and move on.
Iglesia De San Manuel Y San Benito is easy to locate along Calle De Alcala in the eclectic Barrio De Salamanca district.
Most definitely well worth checking out if your in the area.

Beautiful church, have a look inside, on the edge of the park ‘El buen Retiro’ and the ‘Barrio Salamanca’.

This is a beautiful building! Arab influences, it looks like a mosque.
The church was closed, wasn't in my plan, I was on my way to the Retiro Park when I saw it, but it is an amazing structure.Must stop and see it !

The church it's in a great location, near retiro! The architecture of the church it's really nice, bizantine style! You must walk in and admire the art work, the decoration of the walls and the dome!

This church is close to the sites but easy to miss. It's just north of Retiro park and 2 short blocks east of Puerta de Alcalá. We make it a habit to step inside every church with an unlocked door. We are rarely, if ever, disappointed, This time we were richly rewarded. This large domed church is full of beautiful blue mosaics with red and gold accents. I don't know what style it is, it's not art nouveau or art deco but it's definitely modern in color. As other's have noted it has a modern byzantine feel.

To think we would have missed this if we had exited the park anywhere else. Had we know this was here we would have made a point and the time to see it.
