The Sorolla Museum preserves the original atmosphere of both home and study of the painter Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (Valencia, 1863 - Cercedilla, 1923). It houses the richest collection of his works, colourful paintings irradiating light and vitality. It is one of the more complete and best preserved artist homes remaining in Europe. The garden, also designed by himself, is a beautiful oasis in the city.

An amazing little museum with the most beautiful paintings I have seen in a long time. Sorollas paintings capture the light and sun in the most incredible way. It is a must; I enjoyed it more that the Prado!

I knew little about Sorolla but saw a few paintings in the Prado and also read the trip advisor reviews and went with my girlfriend to take a look. This really is a gem, both the small, beautifully designed garden, and the house. The latter...More

We took the Metro to the Sorolla Museum. The grounds and the house where Sorolla lived is exquisite. The furniture and chandeliers are just as fascinating as his paintings! You will fall in love with his work. Worth venturing out see this Museum. You won't...More

Since this was Sorolla's house, you get much more than a simple museum visit - you get an idea of the environment the family actually lived in.

Loved it. It was great way to start the morning. The museum is small. So away from the hustle and bustle of the maddening crowd and tourists. Very friendly staff.

In the hot weather, how refreshing to enter this lovely, older house and look on Sorolla's beachside scenes? The works are so classic you'll find them reproduced on the metro and in various Spanish print ads. That doesn't detract from how lovely they are in...More

Madrid is full of little "secret museums" and this is one of the best. Originally Soolla's house and studio it contains and extensive collection of his works. well worth a visit.

If you like Sargent, then you will love Sorolla. The museum was his home in Madrid and it's a lovely venue, complete with gardens. You can see where he worked and the path of his career. Easily accessible by Metro.

The Sorolla Museum is really worth seeing when you visit Madrid. I was completely ignorant of his work before I visited, but the paintings are beautiful and the obvious love for his wife and family that emerged was very touching. The Andalucian style gardens are...More
