Bar Donosti. Calle Laurel, 13. Logrono
Mar 2018 • Friends
Competing against the many excellent options on Calle Del Laurel cannot be an easy task, but even after trying many other fantastic bars and tapas, I think this is probably my first or second favourite on the street. Consider making this your last stop of the night, because the cheesecake is phenomenal. The peppers stuffed with crab are excellent, as is the cream of boletus (a type of mushroom, I think, I don't know if there is an English equivalent). I don't think I could give a single place I tried on Calle Del Laurel less than four stars.

Of course, it famous for getting us hear in the first place or rather Alex Polizzi and her love of Spain. She had cojoudos or the real dogs bollocks she at bar Donosti Calle Laurel, 13. The "ball" of lamb intestines intrigued us or at least the server and me said it was delicious. What arrived was a plate of fried slices from the ball (I guess) I once thought anything fried have to be good, and it was thankfully all sent down with a nice glass of red.

Lamb Intestines? Never again.
My husband ordered the goat cheese on toast - delicious. We were intrigued by the "ball" of lamb intestines and the server said it was delicious. What arrived was a plate of fried slices from the ball (I guess) I once thought anything fried has to be good, but I think this is very much personal taste - and not to mine. Indigestion for hours!

A good bar - typical of the genre.

This is another very good bar on Calle Laurel. To be honest, there was nothing that set it apart from most others, but it's a good bar nevertheless.

Delicious!
We loved the tosta de queso de cabra con confitura (goat cheese toasts with preserves) and tried the ones with apple and melon preserve. They are warmed up before being plated and that makes for a great bite! The solomillo al roquefort was also wonderful. It is a full slice of bread so can be shared by two before moving along on the Calle Laurel.

Pan fried intestines are a must
Try the embuchado de cabrito. You won't be disappointed, even when you find out you're consuming intestines. Fois croquets are also outstanding.

On a street with stiff competition, this is a must-visit
Competing against the many excellent options on Calle del Laurel cannot be an easy task, but even after trying many other fantastic bars and tapas, I think this is probably my first or second favourite on the street. Consider making this your last stop of the night, because the cheesecake is phenomenal. The peppers stuffed with crab are excellent, as is the cream of boletus (a type of mushroom, I think, I don't know if there's an English equivalent).

If I'm being honest, I don't think I could give a single place I tried on Calle del Laurel less than four stars, at least by the same standards I've used to write other reviews, but this one definitely deserves a bit of an extra mention in my opinion. The other place I'd say might be my favourite on this street is La Tavina; the wine selection is a bit better, the food is roughly equal, but you'll save some money at this place, so it's really a question of deciding where your priorities lie. Frankly, I think you should visit them both.
