This tour did exactly what it set out to- whilst also having some surprises (the space underneath the bodega is huge, tardis like). Mario our host was engaging and affable, answering questions as he went and leaning on noisy guests who wanted to have their own conversations to detriment of everyone else on the tour (yes Mr & Mrs from Texas, you know who I’m referring to!). Set up is very professional. Wines tasted at the end were fine- hardly the best Rioja region can offer but if you’re staying within city of Logrono it’s an easy walk to get here and that adds lots of value

I. was remarkably lucky: this turned out to be a solo tour! I'm not sure exactly how that happened, but I am very grateful for my good fortune. The opportunity to walk at my own pace, take the photos I wanted to take, and ask the questions that I wanted to ask was unique. I may never have learned so much from a tour!

I live very near Oregon wine country in the US. It was especially interesting to learn about the relationship between Bordeaux grapes, Rioja grapes, and American grapes... and the historic events that brought them together. I'm fascinated to see the 1880's connected to the 2020's in this way, and I'm not sure that would have been possible in a typical tour-- but this was such a well-skilled guide that it may be that she can include it so well every time.

I must add that her ability to speak English clearly and well was also excellent; I only had to ask her to repeat herself a couple of times, which is not unusual for me anyway!

The tasting was low key, informative, I was given what I asked for, the accompanying snack was very tasty, and I was allowed to enjoy it without distraction, which seemed both respectful and professional to me.

It was such a great surprise! We are used to wine tours but this one was impressive the amount of new info that our guide Adrian presented us. He was very nice and careful specially with my father that has difficult to walk. We recommend it a lot. Such a pleasant visit. Thanks!

We walked from the centre of Logrono ( about 10 minutes ) to this 125 year old bodega. The visit was really good and our guide was fantastic. We then tasted wine and snacks. All for 12 euros! Well worth a visit

We had an excellent trip around the winery and tasting. Just across the iron bridge from Logrono this winery is easily reached from the railway station with perhaps a 20-25 minute walk. Our guide was brilliant, he explained everything very well with no dumbing down but clear and simple vocabulary. The tasting was excellent too with plenty of wine flowing and nibbles. The only downside was the group size was quite large but the price €14.5 per person was very reasonable for a one hour tour and three small glasses of wine. Would definitely recommend. The most interesting parts were the old photos and adverts.

Advance communication with the winery was excellent, in its friendliness and professionalism (unlike the Marques de Murrieta who ignored our booking request) and we were placed on an English tour.

The experience was informative and entertaining and it was great to explore a smaller, family run Bodega (in contrast to the impressive industrial scale of the nearby Campo Viejo). What we liked most was the advice on how to taste wine (colour, aroma, how to taste it/key notes to look for etc) rather than just giving you the wine to taste. The large platters of chorizo were welcome and we were very pleased that it was incredibly inexpensive to try a wider range of wine in their shop.

My friend and I arrived in Logroño for a 2night/1 day stay and had run out of time to book any winery tours in advance.
After discovering Franco Espanolas was within walking distance of our hotel we called to see if they could fit us in for a tour. Unfortunately the only tour available on the day we visited (Wed) was in Spanish (and we needed English) so we asked if we could come and do wine tasting, which they said we could do any time (they were open).
As a pair we were able to have "half tastings"(1 tasting serve in 2 glasses). We tried 7 wines for ~15€ total all of which were very enjoyable and we felt was great value. Diego, our server/host, was friendly, able to confidently converse in English, and gave us adequate time to enjoy the tastings at our own pace (we spent ~1.5hours there). We were also provided with a plate of chorizo and bread sticks with the tasting.
Although we missed out on visiting any vineyards/wineries, we were very satisfied with our (last minute) visit to Franco Espanolas where we satisfied our main objective - to sample multiple La Rioja wines. Definitely worth the visit!

Besides of an excelent and very cost effective wine, we enjoyed the tour a lot, with a very friendly lady, guiding us and introducing to the world of Rioja's wine. We really recomend the tour, we visited other two wineries but this was by far the best.

My friend and I had booked the tour in advance and we knew it was going to be conducted in Spanish. This wasn't such an issue as the winery is quite pretty and you get the general flow. However, after the tour we went to a room for wine tasting. We ended up with one wine to sample and it wasn't that generous a measure. There were some colds meats and savoury biscuits to accompany the wine but more wine was needed. I would have thought at least 3 styles of Rioja would have been provided but not the case. For 9 euros I thought it was poor value for money.

Great place to visit to understand how they produce Rioja wine + followed by testing of 3 wines. Tour was only in Spanish, they did not offer tours in English when we get there (August) - might be due to the COVID context

Thanks for your visit. Indeed, due to the context of the covid and the low demand from international tourist, the tours are offered only in Spanish.
