AVIANTOURS is an eco-wellness tour company based in Gibraltar, offering nature and natural therapy tours and retreats in GIBRALTAR, SPAIN & MOROCCO. Our tours are ideal for birdwatchers, nature photographers, nature lovers or those seeking natural therapies for stress, depression or chronic illness. Our guide is a registered Nutritional Therapy practitioner, has an honors degree in Nutrition science, certified blood chemistry analysist and iridologist.

My wife and I, who are both experienced bird watchers, had two single day tours in Spain from our base in Gibraltar with Andrew. Both days produced a wealth of birds and for us eight lifetime firsts. Highlights for us was a spectacular low level Griffon and Ruppell vulture display by more than 20 birds, a marsh area with over 20 wader types including Flamingo and repeated views of four different species of eagles. A good sighting of five of the rare Bald Ibis was one of our lifers. Andrew's knowledge of birds and bird songs was excellent throughout. An added bonus was Andrew taking us to two excellent local restaurants close to the bird sites were we enjoyed local delicacies for lunch. We would recommend Andrew's company to anyone who wants to enjoy the birds of Andalucia.

My wife and I had not been to Gibraltar before. But had read about the opportunities for birding .Prior to arriving, communicated frequently with Andy and he was very responsive. We decided on a half day tour. After arriving in Gibraltar, he met us at our hotel. And had binoculars and bottled waters ready for us. He took us to every possible spot on "the Rock" that may have afforded an opportunity to see a whole range of birds. Unfortunately, the birds were not very cooperative that day. We were also educated about plant life and other native animals. As well as life in Gibraltar. We had a wonderful hike towards the top of the Rock and the Botanical Gardens. He was attentive to our needs and to our overall satisfaction with our tour. Andy recommends at least the day trip, and suggested Spain. And offered us the opportunity to come back and tour the birds in Spain with him at a reduced rate.

Andrew was waiting to pick us up near the cruise terminal having given us very clear directions. We joined a tour with another birder and between Andrew and Tom, we were engrossed in a day of birdsong, viewing, photographing and lots of discussion about habitats and migration. We were wowed by the migration of buzzards across the Straights of Gibraltar and charmed by the storks. Andrew is a great teacher sharing about the birds and also about photography which is my hobby. We are ready to return to do this all over again! Thank you, Andrew, for your expertise, kindness and for a marvelous experience.

I've just returned from a fantastic week of birdwatching and photography with AvianTours and Andrew Fortuna. We travelled from Madrid to the Straits if Gibraltar, spending time in the Sierra de Gredos; the plains of Extramadura near Trujillo and Caceres; the wetlands of Coto Doñana and some coastal estuaries and farmland around the Straits of Gibraltar and Malaga. Andrew organised very good accommodation and had a great knack in finding good local food, lunchtime tapas and evening meals.
With the weather being unpredictable Andrew adjusted some of our original itinerary to avoid areas with prolonged rainfall while maximising our bird sightings and photography. Andrew is a highly skilled birder, proficient in bird calls and songs as well as sight identification. He is very good at explaining the important identification points where necessary. He is an equally skilled photographer and gave me many tips and advice on my photography, improving my own use of the camera and lenses, both in hides and in the field.
Andrew is a very likable person and I enjoyed spending a week birding with him. We topped 142 species, highlights included Golden Eagle, Spanish Imperial Eagle, Long legged Buzzard, Eleneora's Falcon, Great & Little Bustard, Black-bellied Sandgrouse and many many more. I would strongly recommend Aviantours to anyone looking for a good birding/bird photography experience in Spain. I look forward to more birding and photography with AvianTours in the future.

Just back from Gibraltar
Excellent days birding and butterfly photography all over the Rock.
I would heartily recommend Andrew Fortuna to anybody seeking a similar trip.
He is highly knowledgeable on the birds butterflies and plants found on Gibraltar. A really wonderful day was had by all four of us.

We flew to Gibraltar (landing at Malaga,) at the early edge of the fall migration and asked Andrew of Avian tours arrange everything from hotel pickup, to the hotel and birding schedule - the only work we did was to pack our field glasses.
It was wonderful. Very accommodating, he arranged hotel specific to our needs and, well, what can I say: Andrew knows where and when the birds are likely to be found as only a local can. And the birding is greatly enhanced by his deep knowledge of Gibraltar, which he is willing to share with those who are interested.

We went to Gibraltar to do some bird-watching but the day we chose proved to be one of the rainiest day of our whole stay in Spain. Our guide, Andrew, was a very keen guide and knows a lot about birds and Gibraltar so it was not his fault we couldn't see a lot of birds. But as Andrew was prepared for all circumstances, he could show us around and made our day memorable. So we should go back to have a proper bird-watching experience!

A wonderful morning birding with Andrew on Gibraltar with a group of friends. So impressed with his knowledge and enthusiasm that we immediately booked for a full day birding trip on mainland Spain.
I have some mobility issues but Andrew took great care to make the whole outing accessible for me.

Andrew clearly knows the nature of Gibraltar as only an enthusiast and an expert can. Birds are his speciality but he is great at explaining the wider ecosystem too. We set him the seemingly impossible task of designing a day trip for two professional ecologists and two people just a general interest in nature. We had a great time and learnt a lot.

We were in Gibraltar for a few days and asked Andrew to show us some Gibraltar birdlife.
As it turned out, there were very few birds about, but we all understand that this unpredictability of it is how it is. What birds were there, we saw because of Andrews abilities in call recognition.
The morning was also a nature ramble - we learned a lot about Gibraltars plants and saw a snake and came away with a rounded knowledge of Gibraltan natural history. We also found that we had walked up the Rock to the top of the cable car without it seeming too much effort because we had been led up paths with more gentle gradients.
Andrew is someone who it is easy to be around and, in conversation with him and others, it seems that a Southern Spain would be a very good place to go and see some birds at this time of year. So we hope to return to use Andrews skills again in the next couple of years, this time staying in Spain and visiting the reserves there.
